To archive the case-status details visible on an Indian court portal, open the relevant official eCourts service, load the case result, then use your desktop browser’s Print command and save the preview as a PDF. Reopen the file to check that it contains the case identifier, status and visible update details. This creates a browser-rendered record of what appeared at that time; it is not a certified court record or a replacement for an official order.
Find the right official case-status service
The eCourts portal is a gateway to case status, daily orders and final judgments. Start with the official service for the court handling the matter: district-court services and High Court services use their respective search pages. The e-Committee, Supreme Court of India describes the portal and its case-information services.
District-court cases
If you have the case’s 16-character alphanumeric CNR, enter it in the district eCourts service to view current status and case history. Enter it without spaces or hyphens. If you do not have the CNR, use the portal’s Case Status options and the search criteria it provides. The district portal describes the CNR lookup and case history at eCourts Services.

For a High Court matter, choose the relevant High Court and bench, then search using the criteria displayed by that service. The High Court Services portal presents status and case history after a search. Orders and judgments are separate documents, available through the portal’s document functions where provided.

Load the result without disrupting the court portal
- Open the appropriate official district or High Court service and search for the case.
- Wait for the result and its visible details to finish loading before printing. If the portal offers a case-history view or other relevant result details, open the material you need to preserve.
- Follow instructions shown on the specific court service. The district eCourts interface warns: “Do not use browser toolbar reload or back button”. Avoid those browser controls while using its flow; use the portal’s own navigation where available.
Portal layouts and dynamic fields can differ. A printout may not capture every interactive or dynamically loaded field, so inspect the actual result and the PDF rather than assuming all on-screen information will be included.
Save the case-status page as a PDF in Chrome
These steps are for desktop Chrome. The labels and controls may differ in other browsers or operating systems.

- With the case result visible, press Ctrl+P on Windows or Linux, or Command+P on Mac.
- In the print preview, select a PDF destination, such as Save as PDF, where that option is available.
- Review the preview. Check that the case number, status, update details and any relevant tables are visible and not cut off or split in a way that makes them unreadable. Adjust print settings if needed.
- Choose Save, select a location and use a descriptive filename, for example
court-case-status-2026-10-03.pdf. - Open the saved PDF and verify that the details you intended to preserve are present. Keep the access date and time, court, case identifier and source page address with the file when useful for later context.

To save a webpage in Chrome rather than print it, choose More > More tools > Save page as. Neither option is described by Chrome or eCourts as universally superior for legal preservation.

Understand what the PDF proves—and what it does not
A browser-generated PDF records the content rendered for you at the time you saved it. It does not establish that the status remains current after that moment. Keep the court name, case identifier, access date and time, and source-page address alongside the file if another person will need to understand its context.
Do not treat the PDF as a certified copy, a digitally signed court record, or a substitute for a court-issued order. The official services distinguish status lookup from orders and judgments. For an order or judgment, use the relevant court portal’s official document functions when available, or follow the court’s formal process. The eCourts gateway describes access to case status, daily orders and final judgments; the High Court service separately provides status searches and PDF access to orders or judgments.

Common problems and practical fixes
- The case does not appear in search: Confirm you are using the service for the correct court. For district status, check that the CNR has 16 alphanumeric characters and contains no spaces or hyphens; otherwise try the Case Status search criteria provided by the portal. High Court services have their own search criteria.
- The result is incomplete or still changing: Wait for the page to finish loading before opening print preview. If a relevant section is interactive or appears only after another portal action, display it first and check whether it appears in the preview.
- The PDF omits text or splits a table: Inspect the print preview before saving, adjust available print settings, then preview again. Reopen the saved file to confirm the correction.
- The portal flow behaves unexpectedly after Back or Reload: Follow the portal’s own navigation and heed the district interface’s warning against browser-toolbar reload or back controls.
- You need an order, not a status snapshot: Find the order or judgment through the court’s official document service rather than relying on a browser print of the status page.
