Siri Expressive Voices lets eligible users choose a Siri voice and adjust its pace and expressiveness. The controls are part of Siri AI (Beta), not a standard voice option available on every device running iOS 27 or macOS 27.
Before you begin: check device and regional eligibility
Apple’s general Siri AI device list is broader than the hardware requirements for Expressive Voices. For Expressive Voices, Apple lists iPhone 17 Pro models, iPhone 18 Pro models, iPhone Air, qualifying iPads with an M4-or-later chip and at least 12 GB of unified memory, qualifying Macs with an M3-or-later chip and at least 12 GB of unified memory, and Apple Vision Pro (M5). For Mac specifically, Apple’s setup guide states that Expressive Voices requires an M3-or-later Mac with at least 12 GB of unified memory. This is a narrower requirement than general Siri AI eligibility, which includes Macs with M1 or later. Details are in Apple’s Customize Siri on Mac guide.
Siri AI requires the device language and Siri language to be the same supported language; Apple’s support page says Siri AI is currently available in English. Availability varies by platform and region: Apple says it is unavailable on iOS, iPadOS, and watchOS in the EU, and when the Apple Account region is mainland China. Check Apple’s Siri AI availability information for current eligibility.

Apple announced in September 2026 that French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish support was planned for the following month. That announcement does not confirm the rollout occurred; check Apple’s current availability page rather than assuming those languages are supported.
Set up Expressive Voices on iPhone
- Update a supported iPhone to iOS 27 or later.
- Open Settings > Siri.
- If Siri AI is not enabled and the option appears, tap Try Siri AI (Beta) and follow the setup prompts. Apple says enrollment may require joining a waitlist; after the wait, Siri AI downloads automatically.
- In Siri settings, tap Voice. Choose a voice, then adjust Pace and Expressivity.

Set up Expressive Voices on Mac
- Update a compatible Mac to macOS 27 Golden Gate or later.
- Open System Settings and select Siri in the sidebar.
- If offered, choose Try Siri AI (Beta) and complete setup. This can include choosing a voice, voice enrollment, reviewing privacy settings, and joining a waitlist if required.
- In Siri settings, click Voice. Choose a voice, then adjust Pace and Expressivity.

Voice selects the Siri voice. Pace changes how quickly it speaks, while Expressivity adjusts its expressive delivery. Apple currently says pace and expressivity adjustments are available for American and British voices; choosing a voice does not mean those two adjustment controls are available for every voice.

If the beta or controls are missing
- Confirm the device meets the Expressive Voices requirements, rather than relying only on the broader Siri AI device list.
- Check that the device and Siri are set to the same supported language, and that Siri AI is available for your platform and region.
- Look for Try Siri AI (Beta) in Siri settings. If enrollment is waitlisted, the controls may not appear until setup is available and complete.
- Check Apple’s current support pages and your device’s Siri settings. Apple’s published guidance does not establish one universal availability result for every combination of hardware, language, and region.
