For an English-language YouTube Live loop, turn on Closed captions → Automatic captions for that stream in YouTube Studio and set the video language to English. YouTube’s live automatic captions are English-only, require normal latency, and may not be available on every channel. For Hindi or another language—or when accurate textile names, prices, or measurements matter—use a professional caption workflow or prepare captions directly in the video, then test the complete loop before going public.
Choose the right subtitle method

For textile demos, human-prepared captions are especially useful when viewers need to distinguish fabric types, regional terms, product names, prices, or measurements. YouTube’s documentation does not guarantee how live automatic captions behave when a prerecorded clip repeats, so test the actual loop and caption source rather than assuming captions will restart and stay synchronized.
Turn on YouTube automatic captions for an English loop
- Confirm live access and create the stream. In YouTube Studio, open Go Live and create or select a stream in Live Control Room. YouTube’s live streaming setup requires an encoder connection using the stream URL and stream key. See YouTube Help: Encoder settings.
- Set captions on that stream. In the stream settings, enable Closed captions, choose Automatic captions, and select English. This is a per-stream setting, not a guarantee that captions will be enabled for every future stream. See YouTube Help: Manage live streams.
- Use normal latency. YouTube says live automatic captions do not support low or ultra-low latency. If the setting is unavailable, check channel feature availability and latency before troubleshooting the video.
- Run the actual demo and listen carefully. Accents, dialects, pronunciation, background noise, poor audio, and overlapping speakers can lead to inaccurate or missing captions. Improve the recording or use reviewed captions if the errors affect product information.
- Preview and monitor the stream. Check the stream on desktop and phone, including sound, picture, caption timing, and stream health. YouTube recommends testing the encoder and monitoring the live stream; its streaming tips also advise checking upload bitrate and leaving bandwidth headroom.
Send professional live captions
YouTube requires live captions to be sent to YouTube. Its documented options include captions embedded in the video or supported caption software that sends captions over HTTP POSTs. For embedded captions, select Embedded 608/708 in Live Control Room’s Closed captions settings, then configure the encoder to provide EIA 608/CEA 708 captions. For the documented event workflow, enable captions and use the captions-ingestion URL with supported software.

Test the loop before a public demo
- Confirm the spoken language and identify terms that must be exact: product names, fabric types, regional vocabulary, prices, and measurements.
- Run an unlisted test using the same loop, audio, encoder, latency, and caption source planned for the public stream.
- Check captions after the video restarts and through later repetitions. YouTube does not document the behavior of every repeated prerecorded loop; synchronization needs to be verified in your own setup.
- Listen for music, room noise, or voices talking over one another. Fix the recording or use prepared/professional captions if those conditions make recognition unreliable.
- Preview on a phone and desktop. Ensure on-screen text does not cover the fabric, stitching, embroidery, labels, or product details.
- Check stream health and confirm upload bandwidth can sustain the encoder’s bitrate with headroom. See YouTube streaming tips.
- Decide whether viewers need DVR. YouTube’s stream settings describe DVR as allowing viewers to pause, rewind, and resume a live stream; see YouTube stream settings.
Troubleshoot missing or inaccurate captions
Automatic captions are not available
Check that the channel has access to the feature, the stream is set to normal latency, and English is selected. Live automatic captions may not be enabled for every channel.
Captions appear but contain errors
Review audio clarity, background noise, overlapping speech, pronunciation, and textile-specific vocabulary. Automatic recognition can misrepresent accents and dialects; use human-reviewed captions when exact wording matters.

Captions are late or out of sync after a loop restart
Repeat the unlisted test with the exact production setup and check each restart. The published guidance does not establish reliable caption behavior across every repeated loop. For professional captions, verify the delay and synchronization with the caption provider and encoder.

Confirm the Live Control Room caption mode matches the source: embedded 608/708 for an encoder supplying embedded captions, or the documented captions-ingestion route for compatible software. Recheck the provider’s current instructions and the configured broadcast delay.

Captions or stream quality degrade during playback
Inspect encoder output, audio, upload bitrate, and stream health. Test again with adequate bandwidth headroom and monitor the stream while it runs.
