To add a video to an existing YouTube playlist, open YouTube Studio on a computer and go to Content → Playlists. Open the playlist menu, choose Edit on YouTube, then use More → Add videos to select videos from search, a URL, or your library. Adding it to the playlist does not guarantee that a live 24/7 stream will pick it up; check the queue or preview in the software or service that runs your stream.
Add a video from YouTube Studio

Sign in to YouTube Studio on a computer and open Content → Playlists.

Find the playlist you use for your stream. Open its menu and select Edit on YouTube.

In the playlist editor, choose More → Add videos.

Choose a video from search, paste a video URL, or select one from your library, then add it to the playlist.

Check the playlist to confirm the video appears where you expect.
YouTube describes a playlist as “a collection of videos.” Its playlist-management instructions explain how to change playlist membership, but not how a third-party 24/7 stream consumes that playlist.

Choose the quickest method for your situation
| When | Method | Steps |

| Video is already published | Use its watch page | Open the video, select More → Save, then choose the existing playlist. YouTube displays a confirmation naming the playlist. |
| You are managing the destination playlist | Use YouTube Studio | Go to Content → Playlists, open the playlist menu, choose Edit on YouTube, then use More → Add videos. |
| You are uploading a new video from a computer | Choose a playlist in upload details | In the upload details, use the Playlist field to select the existing playlist or create a new one. |

Reorder or remove a video
In the playlist editor on a computer, drag a video or Short up or down to change its position. To remove an item, open its menu and choose Remove from [PLAYLIST NAME]. These changes affect playlist membership and order; they do not establish how a separate live-stream operator will refresh its playback queue. See YouTube’s playlist editing guidance.
If you do not see the editing controls, account restrictions or a changed YouTube interface may be responsible. YouTube notes that playlist editing may not be available for supervised accounts. Check the current Studio interface and account type rather than assuming the video or playlist is broken.

Will the running 24/7 stream play the new video?
Not necessarily. YouTube documents playlist editing separately from live-stream setup. Its live-stream guidance covers settings and the Live Control Room, but does not promise that a running stream—especially one operated through third-party software—will immediately use a newly edited playlist. Nor does YouTube establish a universal refresh interval or whether restarting is required.

Identify how the stream is produced: from a YouTube playlist, a third-party encoder or scheduler, scheduled video playback, or another mechanism.

After editing the playlist, inspect that setup’s queue or preview to see whether the new video is present.

If it is missing, consult the specific operator or software’s playlist and refresh controls. Follow its documented procedure; do not assume that changing the YouTube playlist alone changes an active stream.

Confirm the new item actually plays in the live output before relying on it.

YouTube’s live-streaming guidance describes live streaming as real-time interaction with an audience. Its separate help on live-stream archives says an archive is uploaded to the channel by default and suggests organizing archives and highlight clips into playlists. That does not mean an archive playlist is a 24/7 playback queue.
