WPForms Lite does not have to be the end of the road if your form needs visitors to send several images at once. Multimage is a third-party WordPress plugin that adds a “Multi Image Upload” field to the WPForms builder, including Lite. Its developer, Akshat Saxena, describes it as a lightweight solution for image uploads; it is separate from WPForms’ own File Upload field, whose multi-file options depend on the installation and license.
What Multimage adds to WPForms Lite
The WordPress.org listing describes Multimage as an independent plugin that adds a field for attaching multiple images to one WPForms submission. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by WPForms or Awesome Motive. The field’s settings let a form owner choose an upload-count limit, allowed extensions, and maximum file size. Visitors can remove individual selected images before submitting, and the listing says notifications can attach the images or include image URLs through the {all_fields} email template. The listing specifies WordPress 5.8 or later and PHP 7.4 or later. Plugin compatibility and directory details can change, so check the current listing and your site’s requirements before installation.
How the upload process is described
Saxena describes an upload flow in which each chosen image is sent immediately to temporary storage through a secured AJAX endpoint. The endpoint returns a token, and the form carries those tokens—not the image contents—when the visitor submits. After a successful submission, the images are moved into the standard WordPress uploads directory. He says this approach supports forms whether WPForms AJAX submission is enabled or disabled. These are the developer’s descriptions, not findings from an independent code audit or test matrix. Akshat Saxena’s account of building Multimage

The author and plugin listing describe server-side, content-based MIME detection; an image-only extension whitelist of JPG, JPEG, PNG, GIF, and WebP; file-size enforcement; and automatic deletion of abandoned temporary uploads after 24 hours. Saxena also says submitted files are stored in uploads but are not registered as Media Library attachments. Site owners should account for that storage behavior when deciding who can access uploaded files and how long to retain them.

- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Install and configure the field
- In WordPress, go to Plugins > Add New Plugin, search for Multimage, and install it. Alternatively, upload the plugin folder using the method described in the WordPress.org listing.
- Activate the plugin, then create or edit a form under WPForms.
- In the form builder, add the Multi Image Upload field.
- Set the maximum number of images, permitted extensions, and maximum file size to suit the form and your hosting environment.
- Save the form, publish it, and submit a test using the image count and sizes you expect visitors to send.
The plugin listing says configured WPForms notifications can include image attachments and that the plugin sends no data to an external service. Review notification recipients and attachment practices for your organization, particularly if submissions may contain sensitive images. WordPress.org plugin listing
Compare Multimage with WPForms’ native upload field
WPForms documents multiple-file uploads in its native File Upload field when the field uses Modern style. Its April 1, 2026 documentation says the maximum number of files is set in the field options. A developer reference also lists controls for extensions, maximum size, maximum file count, and Media Library storage. Availability depends on the specific WPForms installation and license; do not assume the native field is included in every edition. The API reference warns that requesting a field type unavailable on a site can return an error. WPForms File Upload field documentation · WPForms File Upload developer reference

WPForms says the server sets the maximum upload size and advises contacting the hosting provider about raising it. Its documentation also recommends testing the intended number of uploads against the hosting environment. Modern uploads use AJAX, and the documentation discusses chunking for large files, but neither that nor a form-level size setting overrides server limits. WPForms File Upload field documentation
What to check before going live
- Edition and field availability: confirm whether your installed WPForms edition already provides the native multi-file field and whether it meets your needs.
- File scope: choose Multimage if an image-only field fits the workflow; use a broader file-upload option if visitors must send non-image documents.
- Host limits: ask your hosting provider about the server upload ceiling and test with realistic file sizes and image counts.
- Storage and access: account for the files being saved in uploads rather than the Media Library, and decide who should receive or access them.
- Notifications: check that recipients and attachment handling are appropriate, especially for private submissions.
- Compatibility: verify current WordPress and PHP requirements, then test the form in the browsers and submission mode your visitors will use.
The WordPress.org listing showed fewer than 10 active installations when accessed for this article. That is a changeable directory snapshot, not evidence of whether the plugin will work on a particular site or a measure of its quality. The listing and Saxena’s article provide the implementation and security claims cited above; they do not establish an independent audit.
