To add keyframes in CapCut, select a timeline element, place the playhead where an animation should begin, and click the diamond beside a property such as Position, Scale, Rotation, or Opacity. Move the playhead later and change that property. CapCut creates the transition between the two states, so the element moves, grows, turns, or fades over time.
What a keyframe does
A keyframe records a property value at a particular moment in a clip. Set another value later, and CapCut interpolates the change between the two points. For example, a layer can start at a smaller scale and grow into a close-up, or a title can begin off to one side and slide into view.

CapCut describes this process on its keyframe animation page: “The video automatically interpolates the movement or change between keyframes.” The first and later keyframes define the states; the time between them determines how long the change takes.
How to add keyframes in CapCut PC
These steps follow CapCut’s documented desktop workflow. The exact panel layout can vary between app builds, so look for the property controls in the editing panel for your selected element.
#1 Best Overall
- Stepless Dial with Immersive Haptic Feedback: The high-precision aluminum alloy dial spins smoothly without detents, driven by a wide-range linear motor that delivers satisfying tactile vibrations with every increment. Whether you're scrubbing through a timeline frame by frame in DaVinci Resolve, dialing in color saturation in Lightroom, or adjusting brush size in Photoshop, the haptic pulse confirms every adjustment without looking at the screen - your fingers feel the precision. Clockwise, counter-clockwise, press to confirm - one knob, infinite control
- 7 Customizable Keys & Dual Working Modes: Offline Mode stores your preset shortcuts directly on the device - plug in via Bluetooth and start editing immediately, no software required. Online Mode connects to Ulanzi Studio, where the D100H automatically detects your active application and switches key assignments on the fly: jump from DaVinci Resolve with timeline controls to Photoshop with brush and layer shortcuts without touching a single setting
- Built-In Lighting Ecosystem Control via Ulanzi Connect: The D100H isn't just an editing controller - it's a bridge to your entire Ulanzi lighting setup and smart home lights. Through the Ulanzi Connect PC software, twist the dial to adjust brightness and color temperature on K6500, VL-200Bi, VL-120C, AL60, and the full Ulanzi lighting lineup. It also supports Philips Hue smart bulbs, Nanoleaf panels, and Govee lights - adjust your room ambiance for late-night editing sessions without reaching for your phone
- 1000mAh Battery - 60 Days Standby, Zero Cable Clutter: A full charge gives you approximately 2.5 hours of continuous dial operation and up to 60 days of standby power. Bluetooth BLE 5.0 keeps your desk cable-free with a stable connection up to 33 ft (10m), and you can pair up to 3 devices (PC, Mac, iPad) to switch between editing stations instantly. Type-C charging gets you from 0 to 100% in about 2.5 hours. No drivers, no dongles, no cables snaking across your desk - just pure, uninterrupted creative flow
- Beginner-Friendly, Pro-Capable: Built for creators who are diving into video editing and color grading for the first time, the D100H strips away complexity without stripping away power. Pre-configured presets for CapCut, DaVinci Resolve, and Adobe Lightroom get you editing within minutes of unboxing. As you grow, Ulanzi Studio's drag-and-drop customization lets you build multi-step macros, assign complex shortcut chains to a single twist, and download community presets and icon packs. It's the editing controller that grows with you - not the one you outgrow in a month
- Place an element on the timeline. Open a project, import media if needed, and add the video, image, text, or other element you want to animate.
- Select the element. Click its clip on the timeline so its editing controls appear.
- Set the starting point. Move the playhead to the time where the animation should begin. In the right editing panel, open the relevant property section, such as Video, Transform, or Adjust, and click the diamond beside the property you want to animate.
- Set the later state. Move the playhead to a later time and change the same property. For example, drag the element to a new position, increase its scale, or adjust its opacity. This creates the next state in the animation.
- Preview and refine. Play the segment. If the change begins too soon, ends too late, or moves too quickly, adjust the keyframe timing or values. Add another point only if you need a change in direction or pacing.
CapCut’s desktop keyframe guide documents this select, set, move, and change pattern. Its online editor guidance describes a similar workflow through the Basic panel, while noting that some advanced web options may be limited compared with desktop.
What can you animate?
The available properties depend on the selected element and the CapCut version you are using. CapCut’s desktop guide identifies position, scale, rotation, opacity, effects, and audio properties among its keyframe uses; its feature page also names shape and color.
- Position: Slide a title or sticker into view, or move a visual across the frame.
- Scale: Create a restrained push-in toward a detail or pull back to reveal more of an image.
- Rotation: Add a small turn to an element when it supports the scene.
- Opacity: Fade a layer in or out by setting different opacity values over time.
- Effects and audio: The desktop guide describes keyframing effects and audio values, including volume. Find the relevant control in your installed version before relying on it.
CapCut’s general editing guide also uses examples such as zooming into an image and moving text. The documented property list is not a guarantee that every asset or platform exposes every control.

Make keyframe motion feel intentional
Timing has as much impact as the values you choose. Two keyframes close together make a change happen over a shorter interval; spacing them farther apart gives the transition more time. Preview the result at normal playback speed to judge whether the movement reads clearly.

- Use a small number of purposeful points for a simple move.
- Change the interval between keyframes to adjust how quickly the motion reads.
- Add an intermediate keyframe when the element needs to change direction or its pacing needs to shift.
- Combine position with a modest scale or opacity change only when it helps direct attention.
- Use Ease In/Ease Out or a speed curve when those controls are available in your build. CapCut describes speed curves and easing as ways to refine timing, including movement that starts quickly and slows near its end.
The CapCut feature page describes speed-curve controls, but the available graph or easing interface can differ by platform and version.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Why can’t I see keyframes in CapCut on PC?
CapCut’s desktop troubleshooting guide identifies several checks for missing controls:
- No clip is selected: Select the video, image, or text clip on the timeline, then check the editing panel again.
- The selected element may not support keyframes: Some template elements, grouped clips, or special assets may not expose the controls. Test with a standard clip; detach or replace a template element only if appropriate.
- The property panel is hidden or collapsed: Inspect sections such as Video, Transform, or Adjust for controls including Position, Scale, or Opacity.
- The app may need an update: Check for an available update and restart CapCut. If the control remains missing, CapCut advises contacting support.
Desktop, web, and mobile differences
CapCut’s official documentation describes keyframe animation for desktop and web, but says some advanced web options may be limited compared with desktop. The sources do not establish a complete current feature comparison across desktop, web, and mobile, or guarantee that each platform presents the same controls. Check the property panel in the version you are using and confirm that the selected element exposes the property you want to animate.
