For fixed or manually updated Hindi lyrics, add an OBS Text source, enter the Devanagari text or read it from a file, then check the rendering in the OBS preview on the computer that will run the stream. For a more customized lyric panel, use a Browser Source with a local HTML file or webpage. Neither method automatically synchronizes full lyrics to the song; changing lyrics with playback requires a separate system to update the text or overlay.
Choose how the lyrics will appear

Add Hindi lyrics with an OBS Text source
- Add the source: In the OBS Sources panel, select the add (+) control and choose the Text source available for your operating system. OBS identifies Text (GDI+) for Windows and Text (FreeType 2) for macOS and Linux.
- Name it: Give the source a useful name, such as “Bhajan lyrics,” then open its properties.
- Enter or load the wording: Type the Hindi text into the text field, or enable Read from file and select a text file containing the lyric lines you want displayed. If you use a file, save and test an update before relying on it during a live broadcast.
- Choose a font and layout: Select a font installed on the streaming computer and use the source’s font and layout controls to size and position the text. OBS does not certify a particular font for Devanagari, so judge the result in your own preview.
- Check the actual rendering: Inspect the words at the size they will appear on stream. Look for missing characters, vowel marks or conjuncts that appear incorrectly, lines that are clipped, and text that is hard to read against the video. Adjust the font, size, position, or background treatment as needed.
- Confirm what viewers will see: Preview the complete scene with the bhajan video playing. Check both the lyric panel and the underlying image before starting the stream.
Build a custom lyric panel with Browser Source
- Prepare a webpage: Create or choose a local HTML file or URL for the lyric panel. The page can use HTML and CSS to set its appearance; make sure any fonts it depends on are available when OBS loads the page.
- Add Browser Source: In the Sources panel, add a Browser Source and point it to the local file or URL.
- Set the viewport: Set the Browser Source width and height to fit the area you want the panel to occupy in the OBS scene. OBS lists 800 by 600 as the default viewport and 30 FPS as the default custom frame rate; those are defaults, not recommended stream settings.
- Style and inspect: Use CSS to arrange the text and check the result in the OBS preview. Browser Source’s default CSS makes the background transparent and hides overflow, so inspect the panel boundaries and any clipped content.
- Test changes: If lyrics are meant to change during playback, test how the page receives updates and what viewers see during a song transition, OBS restart, or page failure.
Make lyrics change with the bhajan
A text file can keep wording outside the OBS scene, but reading a file does not by itself decide when to change the lyrics. A Browser Source can display a custom page, but it also needs a mechanism to provide updated text at the right time. Song-title metadata is not proof that full lyrics are synchronized to the audio.
Before leaving the stream unattended, test the complete change process: start a song, move to the next one, restart OBS, and simulate an update or page failure. Decide who or what updates the displayed lyrics and what should appear if that update does not happen. If synchronization is essential, choose and verify a separate timing or playback integration; do not assume the basic OBS text controls provide it.

Prepare the 24/7 broadcast, not just the overlay
In a self-hosted OBS setup, the computer, power, media files, OBS, and internet connection all need to remain available for the broadcast to continue. Check the full scene and stream pipeline before leaving it unattended, and monitor it for interruptions. A continuous-broadcast example in platform documentation should not be read as a guarantee of uninterrupted local equipment or platform service.

- Confirm the intended video and lyric source are present in the scene and that the displayed words match the audio.
- Verify that the streaming computer can access the media, any lyric file or webpage, and the internet connection it needs.
- Plan how you will notice and respond to a power, computer, network, OBS, or overlay failure. A UPS may help keep equipment powered during an outage, but the required capacity and runtime depend on the equipment and are not established here.
- Run a test broadcast or private test before relying on the setup for a long unattended session.
Check rights for both the bhajan audio and lyrics
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content matches. A stream may be interrupted or terminated if a match is detected. Having a licence for third-party material does not necessarily prevent an interruption: the rights holder may also need to allowlist the channel through Content ID. Confirm that you have the rights needed for both the audio and the lyric text, and resolve any required allowlisting with the rights holder before streaming.
