To crossfade tracks in a 24/7 Indian music YouTube stream, set up the overlap in the audio playback or playout stage before that audio reaches the live encoder. YouTube’s live controls do not provide the crossfade setting described here. One documented cloud-pl playback option, Upstream, offers a song crossfade control from 0 to 20 seconds; a local setup needs a player or audio workflow that explicitly supports track-to-track crossfade.
How do I crossfade songs on a 24/7 YouTube stream?
Use a playback system that overlaps the outgoing track’s ending with the incoming track’s beginning, then send its mixed audio to the encoder broadcasting to YouTube. A visual scene transition is not the same thing as an audio crossfade, and a YouTube playlist should not be assumed to crossfade tracks in a live broadcast.
- Prepare the audio. Use recordings you have permission to stream, and check that the files play correctly in the chosen player or playout service.
- Choose where playback happens. Use local playback and capture, a cloud playout service with an explicit crossfade control, or a continuous mix rendered in advance.
- Set a starting crossfade. Begin with a short overlap, then listen across several different pairs of songs. This is a practical starting method, not a universally correct duration.
- Route the mixed audio to the encoder. Confirm the encoder’s preview contains the intended playback audio, not just desktop sounds or monitoring output.
- Test before going public. Run an unlisted broadcast and listen for gaps, clipping, abrupt level changes, cut-off intros or tails, and overlaps that do not suit the music.
- Start the public stream only after the test works. Keep a separate plan for monitoring and recovering the stream; a crossfade setting alone does not ensure continuous operation.

Can OBS crossfade between tracks?
The available YouTube guidance supports using an encoder for added control, but it does not establish a particular OBS version, built-in setting, plug-in, or operating-system procedure for track-to-track crossfade. Do not assume that fading between OBS scenes will overlap the audio of two songs.

For a local workflow, verify that the chosen player or audio application actually performs the overlap, then confirm that its mixed output is what OBS captures. Another option is to prepare one continuous mix in advance and use that as the playback source, provided you have the rights to use every recording and composition. Test the complete audio route in an unlisted stream before relying on it.

How long should the crossfade be?
There is no single setting that suits every Indian music stream. A devotional recording may benefit from a different transition than a classical performance, film song, folk track, or contemporary arrangement. Listen to both the outgoing tail and incoming intro, and check for unwanted vocal or rhythmic overlap as well as changes in loudness.
Upstream documents whole-second settings from 0 to 20 seconds, with zero meaning an immediate transition. That range is a feature specification, not a recommendation or guarantee that one setting will sound right for every pair of tracks. Upstream feature page

Check YouTube access and music rights before streaming
Enable live streaming and test the encoder
YouTube for Artists says first-time streamers should enable live streaming by verifying the account at least 24 hours before going live. It recommends an unlisted test for high-production or high-investment events. Check the current channel eligibility and Live Control Room instructions before scheduling a stream. YouTube for Artists
- Confirm the channel can start a live stream and has completed any first-time enablement in advance.
- Verify that the playback system’s mixed audio reaches the encoder preview.
- Listen for gaps, clipping, unwanted overlap, and accidental capture of desktop or monitoring audio.
- Plan separately for continuous operation, internet and power interruptions, monitoring, and recovery.
Get permission for the recordings and compositions
YouTube’s livestream terms put responsibility on the live content provider to have the necessary rights for worldwide exploitation on Google services, including music licensing rights from artists, record labels, publishers and other royalty participants. YouTube scans livestreams for third-party content. If it identifies such content, a placeholder may replace the stream and YouTube may warn the creator to stop; continued use may interrupt or terminate the broadcast. For licensed third-party material, YouTube says the rights holder should add the channel to its Content ID allowlist. A stream may still be interrupted if the channel has not been allowlisted. YouTube for Artists recommends coordinating with the label or distributor when using copyright-protected music in a livestream. A music-service subscription or purchase does not, by itself, establish permission for a public livestream.
