To add a website screenshot to a Notion page automatically, build a Zap that receives a webpage URL, captures it with a screenshot action, then sends that action’s file output to Notion’s Upload File to Page or Block action. Give Zapier access to the destination page, map the screenshot file and destination page or block, and test the Zap before turning it on.
What you need before building the Zap
- A Zapier account and a trigger that supplies the webpage URL. Depending on your workflow, that could be a manual trigger or a new record in another app.
- A Notion account and permission to share the destination page or database with Zapier.
- A screenshot action that accepts the website URL and returns a file Zapier can pass to a later step.
Connecting Notion to Zapier does not necessarily grant access to every page. Zapier’s Notion setup guide, updated October 1, 2026, says: “You need to grant Zapier access to your pages or databases.” If the destination was created after you connected the account, grant Zapier access to that page or database in Notion too.
Build the screenshot-to-Notion Zap
1. Choose a trigger and make sure it provides the URL
Create a Zap and select a trigger that fits how you collect pages. The trigger needs to provide the website URL to capture. If you want the image attached to a particular Notion page, you also need to be able to identify that destination—for example, by selecting it in the upload step or supplying its page or block ID.

2. Add a website screenshot action
Zapier’s GetScreenshot integration lists an action named Take Website Screenshot. It requires a Website URL and a Full Page Capture choice. Its listing also describes optional width, extra wait time for slow-loading pages, PDF output, and advanced parameters. Map the URL from your trigger into the Website URL field. Choose full-page capture when you need the whole page rather than only the visible viewport, and adjust width or wait time if the output calls for it.

GetScreenshot’s listing says a Starter plan is required for Zaps with three or more steps. Confirm current plan terms in your Zapier account, since catalog details and plan requirements can change.
3. Upload the screenshot to Notion
Add Notion’s Upload File to Page or Block action. Connect your Notion account, choose the destination page or block, and map the screenshot action’s file output to the required File field. The action requires both a Page (or Block) ID and a File.
Check the field mapping carefully: the URL is input to the screenshot step; it is not the file that the Notion upload step needs. Select the screenshot step’s returned file output.
4. Test the result before enabling the Zap
- Use a public webpage for the first test so that access restrictions do not complicate troubleshooting.
- Run the Zap test and open the intended Notion page or block.
- Confirm that the image appears in the intended location and that its page coverage, width, and loading state are acceptable.
- Only then turn on the Zap. If you change the destination or permissions, test again.
Screenshot action options to consider
Zapier also lists PagePixels Screenshots, whose capture options include wait time, selector, page width and height, full-page mode, image format, quality, and scale factor. These controls may help if you need a particular page element or output size. Zapier’s Screenshotbase template documents another pattern: a new Notion data-source item triggers capture from its URL and attaches the result to that item; the listing describes full-page PNG, JPEG, and WEBP screenshots. These are documented capabilities, not a quality or speed ranking. Check the current Zapier editor for availability and the fields exposed to your account.

Troubleshooting
The upload step cannot find the Notion destination
Check that the selected page or block ID is valid and that Zapier has been granted access to the relevant page or database in Notion. Newly created destinations may need access granted after the Notion connection was first set up.

The Notion step says the file is missing
Reopen the upload action’s File field and select the screenshot step’s file output, not its input URL or a text field. Retest the screenshot step first to confirm it returned a file that the following step can use.
The screenshot is incomplete or captures the wrong area
Check whether Full Page Capture is enabled. If the site loads content slowly, increase the screenshot action’s extra wait option; if only one region is needed and the provider supports it, use its selector option. Retest because rendering behavior varies by webpage.

Review Notion sharing for the new page or database and grant Zapier access. An existing Notion connection alone does not establish permission for every later-created destination.
The Zap cannot be enabled or the action fields look different
Check the current action editor for changes to labels, available fields, account limits, and plan requirements. Integration catalogs can change, and the available controls can depend on the account and selected action.

Operational notes
Each screenshot-and-upload workflow depends on the URL being available to the capture service, the capture action returning a file, and Notion permitting the upload to the chosen destination. Test representative pages, especially those with slow-loading content or access restrictions, before relying on unattended runs. No documented source establishes a universal processing-time guarantee or identical behavior across all accounts.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can a Zap attach a screenshot to a specific Notion block instead of a page?
The Notion action is named Upload File to Page or Block and accepts a page or block ID. Whether a particular block is selectable in your account depends on the options shown in the current action editor.
Can the capture step produce a PDF instead of an image?
GetScreenshot’s Zapier listing describes optional PDF output. Confirm that the returned file type is accepted by the Notion upload action in your Zap before relying on that format.
