To add a viewer count in Streamlabs, configure the widget in the Streamlabs Dashboard under All Widgets → Viewer Count, then add it to your scene as a native source in Streamlabs Desktop, through the Streamlabs Plugin for OBS Studio, or as a browser source in OBS and other compatible software.
1. Configure the Viewer Count widget
- Sign in to the Streamlabs Dashboard.
- In the left menu, open All Widgets, then select Viewer Count.
- Under General Settings, select the platform or platforms whose viewer counts you want displayed.
- Use the font controls to set the style, size, weight, and color. For more control, customize the widget with HTML and CSS.
The background color shown in the dashboard is for the preview; it is not a control for the widget’s background on your stream. Streamlabs lists Twitch, YouTube, Facebook, and Kick as supported platforms. Its unique themes are available to Streamlabs Ultra subscribers; the basic widget does not require a theme subscription. Streamlabs’ setup guide describes the widget as a real-time display of how many people are watching.
2. Add it to Streamlabs Desktop
- Open Streamlabs Desktop and select + Add Source in the Sources panel.
- Choose Viewer Count, then select Add Source.
- Keep the default source name or enter a different one, then add the source.
- Adjust its appearance in the settings window and select Done.
- In the scene preview, drag the widget into place and resize it to fit your layout.
3. Add it to OBS Studio
With the Streamlabs Plugin
- Install and sign in to the Streamlabs Plugin for OBS Studio.
- Open OBS Studio and go to the Streamlabs area.
- Select Viewer Count, then choose +Add to place it in the current scene.
- To change widget settings later, use the plugin’s settings route to return to the Streamlabs Dashboard.
Without the plugin: use a browser source
- In the Streamlabs Dashboard, open All Widgets → Viewer Count and copy the widget URL.
- In OBS, add a Browser source to the scene and paste the URL into its URL field.
- Set the browser source’s width, height, and FPS to suit your scene and layout, then confirm and position it.
Streamlabs does not prescribe universal dimensions or an FPS value for this widget. Choose dimensions that give the text room to display at the size you want in your scene. The same widget-URL method can be used in other streaming software that supports browser sources. See Streamlabs’ guide to widget URLs for the general process.
Which setup route should you use?
