1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsUse FFmpeg’s overlay filter to combine your video with a logo image, map the composited video to the output, and send it to YouTube Live. Looping, real-time playback, audio mapping, encoding, and the RTMPS destination are separate parts of the command, so confirm each against your installed FFmpeg build and YouTube’s current encoder recommendations.
What you need before building the command
- An FFmpeg build installed on a computer or server that can sustain the stream.
- A video file and a logo image, such as a transparent PNG.
- A YouTube Live stream key and the matching RTMPS ingest URL from YouTube Live Control Room. Treat the key as a secret.
- An upload connection that can sustain the selected video bitrate. YouTube Help recommends: “We recommend running a speed test to test your upload bitrate.”
FFmpeg’s documentation demonstrates using separate video and image inputs with a complex filter graph and the overlay filter. The example below shows that pattern, but it is an illustrative structure—not a tested, universal command. Options and stream mapping may need adjustment for your source media, installed FFmpeg version, and YouTube stream configuration.
Build the overlay and stream command
1. Start with separate video and logo inputs
Use -i once for the video and once for the logo. For a transparent logo, use an image format with an alpha channel, such as PNG. A filter graph can position the logo a fixed distance from the video’s top-left corner:
ffmpeg -i video.mp4 -i logo.png
-filter_complex "[0:v][1:v]overlay=20:20[outv]"
-map "[outv]" -map 0:a?
[encoding options] -f flv [YouTube ingest URL]
Here, overlay=20:20 places the logo 20 pixels from the left and 20 pixels from the top. The optional audio map, -map 0:a?, asks FFmpeg to include audio from the first input if it exists; the question mark makes that map optional. If your source has no audio, or you need a different audio stream, adjust the mapping and output encoding accordingly. Replace bracketed placeholders with actual settings and the RTMPS destination; they are explanatory placeholders, not command-line values.

- 【Package Content & Note】 1x HD Audio Capture Card , 1x USB 3.0 to USB C Adapter (A-side 3.0, B-side 2.0), 1x user manual. Please note that you need to restart the OBS Studio software after the audio setup is complete, otherwise it will result in no sound output. When using an adapter, if the device is recognized as USB 2.0, try using the other side with the USB-C port. Simply flip the capture card and reconnect it to be recognized as USB 3.0
2. Adjust logo size and position
If the logo is too large, scale it in the filter graph before overlaying it. For example, a graph can scale the second input to a chosen width and automatically preserve its aspect ratio, then place it over the video. Choose dimensions and placement that remain legible without covering important content. Retain the logo image’s transparency if you want the video visible through transparent areas.
3. Configure the video to loop
FFmpeg documents input looping options, but option placement matters: an input option must be positioned for the input it configures. A loop count of -1 is commonly used to request indefinite looping; verify the exact behavior and syntax in the documentation for your installed build and source format. Looping is distinct from the overlay filter, so add the appropriate input-loop option to the video input rather than assuming the overlay itself repeats the video.
When broadcasting a media file at normal playback speed, use real-time pacing so FFmpeg does not process the file faster than its intended duration. Check the installed FFmpeg documentation for the relevant option and ensure the output includes the video and audio streams you intend to send.

4. Add encoding and destination settings
Set the output video codec, audio codec, resolution, frame rate, bitrate, and keyframe interval for your chosen stream mode. Use an output format and codec combination accepted by your selected YouTube ingest path. Retrieve the RTMPS URL in YouTube Live Control Room and configure the encoder with the matching destination and stream key; do not expose the key in public logs, screenshots, or shared commands.

YouTube recommends RTMPS for Live ingest. Its Help page explains: “It’s RTMP over a Transport Layer Security (TLS/SSL) connection and provides encryption.”

| Video mode | Codec | YouTube-recommended bitrate |
|---|---|---|
| 1080p at 30 fps | H.264 | 5 Mbps |
| 1080p at 30 fps | AV1 or H.265 | 10 Mbps |
| 720p at 60 fps | H.264 | 8 Mbps |
| 720p at 60 fps | AV1 or H.265 | 6 Mbps |
These examples do not replace YouTube’s current table for other modes. Consult the live settings page for the resolution, frame rate, and codec you actually select. YouTube advises a two-second keyframe interval and says not to exceed four seconds. Its RTMP/RTMPS guidance supports frame rates up to 60 fps. Platform recommendations do not guarantee that a particular connection or FFmpeg build will handle a setting reliably.
Test the stream before relying on the loop
- Check that the command starts and that FFmpeg reports the expected input streams, output mapping, and encoder settings.
- Start a test stream with audio and motion representative of the intended broadcast. Confirm that the logo stays in place and that the audio is present and synchronized.
- In YouTube Live Control Room, check stream health and read any messages while transmitting.
- If the stream is unstable, choose settings your upload connection can sustain and test again. YouTube recommends testing before going live and monitoring stream health during the event.
Troubleshoot common problems
The logo does not appear
- Confirm the logo path is correct and that FFmpeg successfully opens the second input.
- Check the filter graph labels: the video and image inputs must be referenced as the intended streams, and the filtered output must be mapped.
- Verify that the coordinates place the logo within the output frame and that scaling has not made it too small or too large.
The logo has a solid background
Check whether the image actually contains transparency. Use a logo file with an alpha channel if you want the video visible behind transparent areas; an opaque image will cover the underlying video wherever its pixels are opaque.

The video plays once instead of looping
Confirm that the loop option applies to the video input and is placed correctly relative to that input. Check the installed FFmpeg documentation for the precise option syntax and verify behavior with the source format and build you use.

FFmpeg runs too quickly or the stream stops
A file intended for normal-speed broadcast needs real-time pacing. Check the pacing configuration and FFmpeg output, then verify YouTube’s stream-health messages. Input looping and real-time pacing solve different problems: one repeats the source, while the other controls playback speed.
YouTube reports poor stream health or the connection drops
Compare your selected bitrate with the current YouTube recommendation for the exact resolution, frame rate, and codec. Confirm that your available upload capacity can sustain it, that the RTMPS URL and key match the Live Control Room setup, and that the encoder’s keyframe interval follows YouTube’s guidance.
There is no audio
Check whether the video input contains an audio stream and whether it is mapped. The optional mapping -map 0:a? does not create audio; it only includes audio from the first input when present. Configure a compatible audio encoder if needed.

Copyright and YouTube Live considerations
Adding a logo or looping a video does not grant rights to the video, music, or other material in the stream. Use content you own or are authorized to broadcast, and check YouTube’s applicable copyright and monetization policies before running a continuous stream. A stream’s technical success does not establish that it complies with those policies.
Or let it run in the cloud
If you want a YouTube channel to keep playing uploaded videos without keeping a home computer or connection running, StreamNeo is a cloud option. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It loops uploaded videos; it does not broadcast from a camera.
