To show a radio station logo and schedule on a YouTube livestream, add them as graphic layers to the video your encoder sends to YouTube. Separately, schedule the livestream in YouTube Studio so people can find its watch page before airtime and request a reminder. The overlay appears in the video; the scheduled event appears on YouTube.
Prepare a logo and schedule graphic
Make a transparent logo image and a schedule graphic that fit your stream canvas. The exact dimensions depend on your video resolution and encoder setup. Keep both graphics legible when viewed on a phone, away from player controls, and clear of important video or captions. These are practical layout guidelines rather than YouTube requirements.
Decide whether the schedule should be a fixed panel or a changing “now/next” display. A fixed graphic is straightforward to add as an image layer. An automatically updating schedule needs a data source or production system; YouTube’s general encoder guidance does not specify a radio scheduling integration.
Add the logo and schedule to the outgoing video
- Open your encoder and select the scene or layout you intend to stream. YouTube supports encoder-based livestreaming, but the available graphics tools and their menus vary by software and hardware.
- Add the logo as an image or graphic source, then position and size it within the video frame.
- Add the schedule as a second image or graphics/text layer. Arrange it so it does not obscure the logo, relevant video, captions, or important on-screen information.
- Check the encoder preview. Confirm both graphics are visible, correctly placed, and readable at the intended output size. If the schedule changes, update the source or graphic and check the preview again.
There is no universal menu path for adding overlays: exact controls depend on the encoder. YouTube’s encoder guide explains the role of an encoder and its connection to a livestream: YouTube Help: Go live with an encoder.

Schedule the livestream in YouTube Studio
- In YouTube Studio, open Go Live, select Manage, and choose the option to schedule a stream.
- Enter the event details, including its title, description, privacy setting, date, time, and time zone. Check the time zone carefully so the event is listed for the intended local airtime.
- In YouTube Studio, get the stream server URL and stream key, then enter them in the corresponding fields in your encoder to connect it to YouTube.
- Keep the stream key private. It is a credential used to connect the encoder; do not show it in screenshots, overlays, or public instructions.
YouTube says scheduling can help promote the stream, provide a shareable watch page, and let viewers request reminders. See YouTube Help: Schedule a livestream and YouTube Help: Go live with an encoder.
Preview and check before airtime
Set up well ahead of the scheduled start and use the Live Control Room preview to check the feed before beginning. Confirm that the logo and schedule appear as intended, the schedule is current, and audio is working. Also check that the event’s watch page is accessible to the intended audience. YouTube’s live streaming guidance recommends preparing in advance and checking the preview: YouTube Help: Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder.

- If the schedule is out of date, replace or update its image or data source, then verify the change in the outgoing preview.
- If the event cannot be found, check its privacy setting, scheduled date and time zone, and the event watch page in YouTube Studio.
- If the encoder does not connect, verify that it has the server URL and stream key shown for that event in YouTube Studio. Do not post the key while asking for help.
Software encoder or dedicated hardware?
A software encoder can be sufficient when the station already has a computer-based production setup that supports image or graphic layers. A dedicated hardware encoder is an optional route when an appliance better suits the station’s operating needs; it is not required just to display a logo and schedule. Encoder capabilities, operating-system support, source compatibility, and schedule automation differ, so check the specific device or software documentation before choosing.
