Add the prerecorded jingle as an item in the playback playlist between the two songs: song → jingle → song. In an OBS setup, a VLC Video playlist source is one reported way to queue local prerecorded files. Check the controls in your installed OBS version, then verify the audible result in YouTube’s Live Control Room before leaving the stream unattended.
Insert the jingle in the playback sequence
- Prepare the file. Use a jingle you have the right to broadcast. Play it locally and check that its volume is reasonable beside the songs that come before and after it.
- Open the playlist source. In OBS, use the VLC Video playlist source if it is available in your setup, and add the jingle file to the playlist. The exact interface and behavior may vary by OBS version; the surfaced OBS/VLC workflow comes from secondary tutorial guidance rather than current official documentation.
- Place it between the intended tracks. Arrange the playlist so the preceding song is followed by the jingle and then the next song. Confirm the playlist’s ordering and repeat behavior rather than assuming it will advance or loop as intended.
- Check the outgoing stream. Preview the stream in YouTube’s Live Control Room. Listen for the jingle, confirm that the next song follows it, and check for an ingestion or playback issue. Do not assume YouTube Studio has a control to insert an item into the encoder’s playlist.
- Test before unattended operation. Confirm that the playback source, computer, and network remain available, and decide how you will notice and recover from a stopped feed. These are operational checks, not a guarantee of continuous uptime.
The OBS tutorial guidance involving OBS and YouTube’s Live Control Room was last updated in 2021, so labels and behavior may have changed. Treat the VLC playlist method as a practical starting point and validate it in the software versions you use.
Get the rights for the jingle and songs
You are responsible for having the necessary rights to broadcast the jingle and every song. YouTube’s Livestream terms and conditions say creators must have the necessary rights for live content, including music licensing rights from artists, record labels, publishers and other royalty participants. Check that each license covers livestreaming and, if you keep an archive, use in the archived video.
YouTube says it scans live streams for third-party content; if it identifies content that remains in the stream, the stream may be interrupted or terminated. A license alone may not prevent an interruption: YouTube notes that a rights owner may need to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist. See Copyright issues with live streams for the platform’s guidance.
