Add the product name and price as a separate OBS source above your looping demo video. For a fixed label, use a text source; choose a Browser Source when you need custom styling, animation, or page-based content. Keeping the label separate means you can update the price without editing the video.

Choose a label method

Method Best for How updates work
Text source A fixed product name and price Edit the text in OBS when the details change.
Browser Source with a local HTML file Custom styling, animation, or a designed layout Edit the local page; OBS loads it as a browser view.
Browser Source with a hosted URL A page-based overlay you prefer to maintain online Update the page or service; the source depends on that URL being available.

For a simple, stable label, a built-in text source avoids an unnecessary third-party dependency. OBS describes Browser Source as an embedded browser that can load a local file or URL and support custom CSS and frame-rate settings. Its documented defaults are an 800-by-600 viewport and 30 FPS; these are browser-source defaults, not requirements for your stream resolution. OBS Browser Source documentation (dated 2022-01-11).

Add the product name and price in OBS

  1. Open or create the demo scene. Select the scene that contains your demonstration video, or create a dedicated scene for the live demo.
  2. Add the label as a separate source. For a fixed label, add a text source and enter the product name, price, and currency exactly as you want viewers to see them. The precise menu wording can vary by installed OBS version.
  3. Place the label above the video. In the Sources stack, move the label source above the demo video source. Sources higher in the stack render on top of those below them.
  4. Position and size it in the preview. Keep the label inside the output frame and away from important product details. Make the text readable at the smallest screen you expect viewers to use; these are practical design recommendations, not platform-mandated dimensions.
  5. Check the demo loop. If the demo is a video file, verify that the media source’s loop control is enabled. The current control name and location are not established by the cited OBS Browser Source documentation, so check the controls in your installed OBS version.
  6. Preview before broadcasting. Check the entire scene, including the exact product name, price, currency, positioning, and loop behavior. YouTube recommends testing an overlay before going live. Its instructions for a YouTube break overlay describe a distinct workflow using a Browser Source and Live Control Room; they are not instructions for creating this product label. YouTube overlay guidance

Use a Browser Source for a custom design

If a plain text label is too limited, create a local HTML overlay or use a trusted hosted overlay page, then add it as a Browser Source. OBS documents both local-file and URL loading, plus adjustable viewport dimensions, custom CSS, and frame rate. Set the browser viewport to suit the overlay layout and stream canvas, then position the source in the preview. The viewport is the browser content area; the documented 800-by-600 default is not a recommended canvas size for every stream. OBS Browser Source documentation

Keeping the overlay separate from the video is useful even with a custom design: you can change product details or presentation without re-rendering the demo recording. If you use a hosted page, make sure it shows the right product and price and remains reachable when you broadcast.

Check third-party widgets against the job

Meld advertises a free YouTube Promo Widget that it says works with YouTube Live and in OBS through its Spark Plug plugin. Its stated behavior is to promote a latest YouTube upload for 30 seconds, then repeat every 10 minutes. That is a recurring upload-promotion feature, not documentation of a general product-name-and-price ticker; verify current features before relying on it for product data. Meld widget page
