Streamlabs Mobile’s official guides do not document a way to add a prerecorded video file as a scene source. They describe camera and screen capture, plus scene elements such as widgets, graphics, images and text. If the recorded video must appear as a direct source in your YouTube broadcast, use a computer-based streaming workflow and check that your installed Streamlabs Desktop version offers a video-file or media source.
Can I play a video from my camera roll during a Streamlabs Mobile livestream?
Not through a prerecorded-video workflow shown in Streamlabs’ current Mobile documentation. Its scene guide lists camera, widgets, Streamlabs graphics, custom items and, on iOS, screen sharing. A custom item is described as an image from the phone, a website link or custom text—not a local video file. The live-streaming guide likewise describes camera or screen capture, not a video-file layer. Streamlabs’ scene guide and its Mobile setup guide are the relevant references.
This is a limit of the documented workflow, not proof that every app build or phone behaves identically. Do not assume that seeing a screen-share option means Streamlabs supports playing a camera-roll file as a reliable broadcast source. The guides do not describe or guarantee that workaround.
What the Streamlabs Mobile YouTube workflow can do
Streamlabs documents Mobile as a way to stream from your phone using camera or screen capture and to customize a scene. Its YouTube flow lets you create a new event, schedule one, or select an active event before going live. The exact options can vary with app and account state; consult the current in-app flow and YouTube account interface. See Streamlabs’ YouTube Mobile guide.

Streamlabs says a first-time livestream setup may require phone verification and an activation wait. YouTube eligibility and setup requirements can change, so check the current guidance and notifications in your own YouTube account before scheduling a broadcast.
Best option when the prerecorded video must be on screen
Use a computer-based source workflow
A computer workflow is the appropriate direction to investigate when the video file itself must be an input to the live scene. Streamlabs distinguishes Mobile’s camera/screen use from Desktop’s broader customization in its YouTube streaming guide. Before planning the broadcast, open the source menu in your installed Desktop version and confirm it offers a suitable video-file or media source. The cited documentation does not establish the exact current Desktop steps for loading a prerecorded file, so verify the controls in your version rather than relying on an assumed button sequence.

Choose based on the source you need
- Phone-only camera or screen stream: Streamlabs Mobile’s documented workflow is designed for this use.
- A prerecorded file as a direct scene source: investigate a computer-based workflow and confirm its available sources before going live.
- Phone camera or screen feeding a computer: Android LAN Streaming may bridge a live phone feed to Desktop, but it does not turn a stored video into a Mobile file source.
Use Android LAN Streaming only for a live phone feed
Streamlabs’ Mobile LAN Streaming guide describes sending an Android phone’s camera or screen to Streamlabs Desktop over the same Wi-Fi or Ethernet network. The guide says the feature does not work over the phone’s cellular connection. In Desktop, the guide’s process uses a Media Source with the provided LAN stream URL as its input.
This is useful if you want to keep the phone as a live camera or screen source while operating the broadcast from a computer. It is not documented as prerecorded-file playback, and it should not be presented as a way to play a saved clip from the phone.

Scene customization is not the same as video playback
Mobile scenes can include themes, guests, cameras, widgets, Streamlabs graphics and custom items; iOS also has a screen-share option. The guide describes custom items as images, links or text. Those features can add context and overlays, but the documented list does not include a local prerecorded-video source. Avoid building a production plan around a feature the guide does not identify.
