To add a phone to your Samsung account, sign in on the Galaxy phone through Settings. If you mean registering the phone for Samsung support or warranty records, that is a separate step—and your phone may already be registered automatically after you sign in.
First, distinguish account sign-in from product registration
Signing in connects the phone to your Samsung account and its account-based services. Product registration is a separate process for managing a Samsung product in support and warranty records. Samsung says a Galaxy phone should be automatically registered to the account the first time you log in on the phone; you may not need to register it again on the website. Sign in to your Samsung account on the phone
- Open Settings.
- Find the Samsung account option. Depending on your phone, software, carrier, and region, it may appear directly in Settings or within an account-management menu.
- Sign in or create an account. Follow the prompts shown on your phone, including any verification steps.
Samsung’s UK setup guide describes the account sign-in flow, but its screens and guidance are specific to that support region. Menu names and steps can differ across devices and software versions. See Samsung UK’s account setup guide.
Register the phone for support or warranty records
If you need to manage the phone as a product, use Samsung’s product-registration page or Samsung Members and follow the registration prompts. First check whether the phone is already listed under your account: Samsung may report that it is registered because signing in on the device registered it automatically.

The registration form may ask for an identifier. Samsung’s US guide says an IMEI is 15 digits and shows how to find it under Settings > About phone. Depending on the product and registration flow, Samsung may instead request a serial number or model details. What account sign-in enables for a lost phone
A Samsung account on the phone is required for Samsung Find and SmartThings Find, but signing in alone does not guarantee a live location. Samsung says the phone needs to be on and connected to a stable network for a current location; if it is off, the service can show only its last known location. Lost-device options can be adjusted in Settings. Read Samsung’s lost-device guidance.

If sign-in or registration does not work
- Check that you are using the intended Samsung account credentials and complete any on-screen verification prompts.
- If registration reports that the phone is already registered, check the products associated with your account before trying again.
- If Samsung rejects the identifier, confirm you entered the requested IMEI, serial number, or model information from the correct device screen.
- If the phone is linked to an account you cannot access or the registration issue persists, contact Samsung support for model- and region-specific help.
Adding a phone is not the same as adding a SmartThings device
Signing in to a Samsung account on your phone does not automatically connect a home appliance or another smart device in SmartThings. The app requires a Samsung account, and compatible devices must be added separately through SmartThings. Samsung’s SmartThings device setup guide.
