In Google Slides on a computer, click New slide to add a slide using the current slide’s layout. To use a different layout, open the arrow beside the button and choose one. The left sidebar is where you duplicate, move, skip, or delete slides.
Add a slide on a computer

Open your presentation in Google Slides.

Click New slide near the top left. The new slide uses the current slide’s layout.

To choose another layout, click the arrow beside New slide (the New slide with layout menu) and select the layout you want. Google’s instructions for adding and organizing slides describe both options.

You can also add a slide with Ctrl+M on PC or Command+M on Mac. If a shortcut does not work with your language or keyboard, use the menu method; Google’s shortcut reference lists Ctrl+/ on PC or ChromeOS and Command+/ on Mac to open the shortcut list. Check Google Slides keyboard shortcuts for the current list.

Choose between a new slide and a duplicate
Use New slide when you want a fresh slide with the current or a selected layout. Duplicate an existing slide when you want to reuse its content or structure, then edit the copy.
Duplicate a slide

Select the slide in the left sidebar.

Right-click it and choose Duplicate slide. You can select multiple slides with Shift-click before duplicating.

Google lists Ctrl+D on PC and Command+D on Mac as duplication shortcuts. Google’s shortcut reference has the full list.
Reorder slides in the sidebar
Drag a slide in the left sidebar to the position where you want it. To move several slides together, select them first, then drag the selection. Keyboard users can select a slide and press Ctrl+Up or Ctrl+Down on PC, or Command+Up or Command+Down on Mac. Google also explains how to move slides in a presentation.

Skip a slide or delete it
Choose based on whether you want the slide to remain in the file:

Skip: Right-click the slide in the sidebar and choose Skip slide. It stays in the presentation but is omitted during the slideshow. People who can access the shared presentation can still see skipped slides.

Delete: Select the slide and press Delete or Backspace. This removes it from the presentation.

Add or duplicate slides on a phone or tablet
In the Google Slides app on Android, iPhone, or iPad, tap New slide and choose a layout. To duplicate a slide, touch and hold it, copy it, then paste; the copy appears after the original. Google’s mobile instructions cover adding and duplicating slides.
