To show new YouTube channel memberships on a 24/7 livestream, enable memberships for an eligible channel, link the channel to an alert provider such as Streamlabs, and add that provider’s Alert Box to the scene that stays on air. In OBS, you can add the provider’s widget URL as a Browser Source. Test the alert in the actual broadcast scene, and avoid moderation settings that require someone to approve each alert while the stream is unattended.
Before you set up the alert
You need three things: an eligible YouTube channel with memberships enabled, an alert provider linked to that channel, and streaming software with the alert included in the scene used for the broadcast. YouTube’s official integration instructions cover connecting Streamlabs and configuring widgets and alerts; YouTube says channel memberships or Super Chat must be eligible and turned on before setup.
- Confirm that channel memberships are available and active on your channel.
- Choose an alert provider that supports the YouTube membership events you want to display.
- Have access to the streaming software and the scene that will remain on air.

Link your YouTube channel
Sign in to Streamlabs using Google and follow its channel-linking flow. Before editing alerts, make sure the YouTube account or platform connected in Streamlabs is the channel you intend to broadcast.

Configure the Members alert
Open Alert Box settings and select the YouTube Members alert. Set the visual style, sound, duration, and message behavior to suit your overlay. If the provider offers variations for different events, check that the membership variation you want is enabled. Save your changes. Streamlabs documents its alert setup and customization.

Add the Alert Box to the broadcast scene
In Streamlabs Desktop, add Alert Box from Sources. In OBS Studio, use the Streamlabs plugin’s Widgets panel if you have it. Without the plugin, copy the Alert Box widget URL from Streamlabs and add it in OBS as a Browser Source. OBS does not create alerts itself; its Browser Source displays overlays supplied by third-party services.

Position the source and check scene visibility
Resize and place the alert where viewers can see it without obscuring essential content. Check the source’s visibility and layer order so that background elements do not cover it. If the broadcast uses more than one scene, add the alert source to every scene where it should appear.

Test before leaving the stream unattended
Use Streamlabs’ test control or in-software test widget, then inspect the result in the intended live scene. Testing confirms that the visual source is connected and appearing; it does not prove that every real YouTube event will always be delivered. Streamlabs describes its alert testing and troubleshooting steps.

Make the setup suitable for a 24/7 broadcast
Keep the alert in the scene that stays on air
An alert source in a scene that is not currently live will not be visible to viewers. If your stream switches scenes, confirm that the widget is present in every scene where membership alerts should appear.

Do not require unattended manual approval
Streamlabs says unlimited alert moderation delay requires an operator or moderator to accept events; alerts that are not accepted will not play. That setting is unsuitable for an unattended stream unless a person is monitoring and approving alerts.
Retest after changes
The documented setup is scene- and provider-based, not a guarantee of uninterrupted alert delivery. Retest after changes to the streaming software, scene, connected account, or provider settings, and check the overlay periodically while operating a continuous broadcast.

Choosing an alert provider
YouTube’s official integration page lists StreamElements for in-stream member recognition and live alerts, including membership-level information, and provides instructions for Streamlabs widgets and alerts. OBS supplies the Browser Source mechanism, not the membership alert itself. Choose a service based on the events and overlay details you need, and confirm the current options in your account.

- Event support: Check whether the provider supports new memberships and, if needed, gifted-membership events.
- Displayed information: See whether it can show details such as membership level or gift count.
- OBS integration: Confirm that it offers a compatible plugin or a widget URL you can use as a Browser Source.
- Testing and styling: Look for a way to preview and test the alert in your target scene, and customize its appearance.
Membership alerts are not subscriber alerts
A channel membership is a paid membership event; a subscription is a different YouTube event. Streamlabs’ troubleshooting guidance says subscriber alerts may be delayed by up to four hours and may not appear when a subscriber’s privacy setting prevents sharing. Those qualifications refer to subscriber alerts; they do not establish the same delay or privacy behavior for membership alerts.

What to know about gifted memberships
Streamlabs’ guidance, updated in September 2025, says its widgets support gifted-membership alerts. It describes defaults that can show the gifter, the number of memberships gifted, and an alert for each new member, with options such as a single alert or membership-level display. The same guidance noted that YouTube was making the feature available to a limited set of streamers during rollout. Because availability can change, check your account and test the event before relying on it.
Troubleshoot an alert that does not appear
- Verify the connected channel and widget theme. Make sure the provider is linked to the correct YouTube channel and the expected Alert Box theme is selected.
- Check the event configuration. Confirm that the Members event and the desired variations are enabled, then save the settings.
- Inspect the scene and source order. Confirm the alert source is present, visible, and layered above elements that might cover it.
- Check for pauses or moderation holds. Alerts may be paused or waiting for human approval; an unattended stream cannot play an alert that requires acceptance.
- Refresh and test the Browser Source. Refresh the source, or remove and add it again, then run a test in the target scene.
- Review custom styling and animation. If the source loads but the alert looks broken, check custom HTML/CSS and alert animation settings as part of troubleshooting.
Treat a widget URL as potentially sensitive if your provider associates it with your account. The cited setup guidance does not establish a specific security policy for widget URLs, so follow the provider’s current account guidance.
