1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsAdd the delay query parameter to your ScreenshotAPI.net request and set it to the number of milliseconds to wait before capture. For example, delay=2000 requests a two-second wait; the documented default is 0. Use a fixed delay when you know how long the page needs, or use a selector or page event when capture should depend on readiness.
Set the delay parameter
Append delay to the ScreenshotAPI.net capture URL. The documented endpoint example uses the v3 screenshot path:
https://shot.screenshotapi.net/v3/screenshot?token=TOKEN&url=ENCODED_URL&delay=2000
Replace TOKEN with your API token and ENCODED_URL with the encoded address of the page to capture. Encode the page URL when it contains reserved characters such as & or ?, so they are treated as part of the URL parameter rather than as API query separators.
The delay value is in milliseconds: 500 is half a second, 2000 is two seconds, and 0 adds no wait. These are examples, not universal timing recommendations. ScreenshotAPI.net documents 0 as the default. See the official delay documentation for the current parameter details.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Choose the right wait strategy
A fixed delay is simple, but it waits for a duration rather than confirming that the page is ready. If you can identify the actual readiness condition, a condition-based wait may avoid both premature captures and unnecessary waiting.
| Method | When to use it | What it waits for |
|---|---|---|
delay |
When a page needs a known extra rendering period, such as for an animation, chart, or API-driven component. | A fixed number of milliseconds. |
wait_for_selector |
When a particular element indicates that the required content has appeared. | A matching DOM element. The selector must match the target page. |
wait_for_event=networkidle |
When content depends on asynchronous requests and the page should settle before capture. | The documentation describes network idle as no active network requests for at least 500 ms. |
wait_for_event=domcontentloaded |
When waiting for the HTML document to be parsed is sufficient. | The DOMContentLoaded event. |
wait_for_event=load |
When capture should wait for page resources to load. | The load event; this is the documented default. |
ScreenshotAPI.net’s timing feature documentation shows selector and event waits as alternatives to guessing a duration, and illustrates combinations such as wait_for_event=networkidle&wait_for_selector=.hero. Combine controls only when the page needs them; a selector such as .hero is only an example and may not exist on your page.

Handle lazy-loaded content separately
A longer delay does not scroll a page. For content deferred until it is near the viewport, use lazy_load=true, which makes the browser scroll through the page to trigger off-screen content. The scroll_delay parameter controls the pause between scroll steps; the documented default is 500 ms.
The documentation demonstrates using lazy_load=true with delay=10000, but those settings solve different problems: lazy loading triggers scrolling, while delay waits before capture. Long pages and a high scroll_delay can increase total render time enough to hit the documented default request timeout of 100000 ms. See the lazy-load and timeout documentation when configuring long captures.

Find a practical delay for your page
- Start with the page’s actual need. For a static page, leave the delay at
0unless something is missing. For a known animation or delayed component, begin with a short delay and increase it only if the required content is absent. - Prefer a readiness signal where possible. Use
wait_for_selectorif a specific element appears when the needed content is ready. Considerwait_for_event=networkidlewhen asynchronous requests are the issue. - Enable scrolling for off-screen content. Add
lazy_load=truewhen content appears only after scrolling; tunescroll_delaywith the timeout risk in mind. - Check the captured result and adjust. A ScreenshotAPI.net login-capture guide uses
delay=5000as a page-specific example and suggests increasing it if content is still missing. It is not a general setting for every site.
Troubleshoot missing or slow captures
- Dynamic content is missing: Increase
delaymodestly if the page needs more render time, or use a selector/event wait that reflects when the content is ready. - The page content appears only after scrolling: Set
lazy_load=true. Raisingdelayalone does not perform the documented automatic scroll. - A selector wait does not help: Confirm the selector exists on the target page and identifies the element that signals readiness. A sample selector from a feature page is not necessarily valid for your site.
- The request takes too long or times out: Reduce unnecessary waiting and review the page length and
scroll_delay. Scrolling a long page with a large pause between steps can consume the request’s available time; the docs list a 100000 ms default timeout. - The URL behaves unexpectedly: URL-encode the target page address so reserved characters do not alter the API query string.
Or skip the browser setup
If you want the capture rather than a browser-timing configuration, ScreenshotNeo accepts a URL in one GET request. Its API removes cookie and consent banners, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture; bot checks, blank pages, failed loads, timeouts, and cache hits are not billed. An MCP server provides take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf tools for Claude, Cursor, and other MCP clients. The Free plan includes 1,000 screenshots per month with no card, and paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 shots. See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation.
