To “activate” the LG HBS-SL5, power on the headset and pair it with your phone or other Bluetooth source. LG’s official support page provides the model’s English and Spanish owner’s manuals; use the manual’s instructions for the exact button sequence, because the sequence and pairing indicators should not be guessed.
Find the official HBS-SL5 pairing instructions
Open LG’s HBS-SL5 support page and select the owner’s manual in your language. LG lists English and Spanish manuals dated August 12, 2019. Follow the manual for powering on the headset, entering Bluetooth pairing mode, and confirming connection.
Pair the headset with a Bluetooth device
- Check the charge. If the headset needs power, charge it before pairing. LG lists a charging time of less than one hour, but actual time can vary.
- Enter pairing mode using the manual. Follow the HBS-SL5 manual’s specific control sequence and indicator guidance; do not rely on button holds or light patterns from another headset model.
- Open Bluetooth settings on your source device. On a phone, tablet, or computer, open its Bluetooth settings and look for available devices.
- Select “LG HBS-SL5.” Choose the headset when it appears, then follow any confirmation prompt shown by your device.
- Confirm the connection. Check the source device’s Bluetooth screen and test audio. If the headset does not appear or connect, consult the manual’s pairing and troubleshooting guidance rather than trying an unverified reset sequence.
What the HBS-SL5 offers after pairing
LG describes the HBS-SL5 as a TONE Style Bluetooth neckband headset with retractable earbuds. LG’s UK product page lists Bluetooth 5.0, Google Fast Pair, multipoint, and SBC and AAC audio codec support. These are manufacturer-listed capabilities, not a guarantee that every phone, computer, or television supports every feature.

LG also lists Meridian EQ with Bass, Normal, Treble, and Flat presets, a companion app for Android and iOS, voice-command support for Google Assistant and Siri, and TV use. Feature availability can depend on the connected device and software.

Battery and charging expectations
LG Electronics UK lists a typical 75 mAh lithium-polymer battery and rates the headset for eight hours of talk or playback. Its page also advertises three hours of use from a 10-minute charge and a full charging time under one hour. These are manufacturer specifications on an undated UK product page, accessed in 2026—not independently measured or guaranteed results. Actual runtime depends on use and conditions.
Availability and warranty information
LG’s US product listing marks the HBS-SL5 as discontinued. That status reflects the US listing; availability and support may differ by region and change over time. The US support page lists one year of labor and parts coverage and directs owners to the warranty information supplied with the product for detailed terms. This is not confirmation of current coverage for every owner or region.

LG’s UK specifications list an included USB-C data cable and extra large and small ear gels. The cited product information does not establish current replacement-part availability or confirm compatibility for generic replacements.
