In the ESPN and Yahoo scoring examples covered here, a tight end’s receiving touchdown is worth six touchdown points. In a PPR league, the catch can add a separate reception point; in non-PPR, it does not. Your league’s scoring settings override platform examples, so check them for the exact value.
Why a touchdown catch can score more than six points
Fantasy scoring treats the touchdown and the catch as separate events. The touchdown earns the league’s touchdown award; a completed reception may earn points under the league’s reception rules. ESPN’s described standard PPR format awards one point per catch, while its non-PPR format awards none for the reception.
That means one receiving touchdown is six touchdown points plus one reception point in ESPN’s standard PPR example: seven points before receiving yards or bonuses. In ESPN’s standard non-PPR example, it is six points before those additions.
How to calculate a tight end’s touchdown score
Use the scoring values shown in your league, rather than assuming every league follows a platform’s example.

- Start with the league’s points for a receiving touchdown.
- Add the reception award if the scoring play was a completed catch. This may be zero, half a point, or a full point, depending on the league.
- Add points for receiving yards using the league’s yardage rate.
- Add any applicable bonuses, including a tight-end-specific premium if your league rules provide one.
For example, Yahoo’s documented default head-to-head points settings show one point per ten receiving yards and six points per touchdown. In that example, a tight end’s score also depends on the league’s reception scoring and the yards gained on the play. Customized settings may change those values.

Check for a tight-end premium
A league may award tight ends extra points through a position-specific scoring adjustment, sometimes called a TE premium. Do not assume a particular premium amount: the platform examples here do not establish a universal value or default. Look in the league’s scoring settings for any tight-end bonus and apply it only as those rules specify.

Where to confirm your league’s exact scoring
Open the league’s scoring settings or rules and check the receiving-touchdown value, points per reception, receiving-yard rate, bonuses, and any position-specific adjustment. In a commissioner-managed league, use its configured values rather than a platform’s general format description. When comparing formats, those are the settings that determine whether the same tight-end touchdown is worth six points, seven points, or another total after applicable yardage and bonuses.
