The right Samsung tablet can make studying, reading, planning, and creative practice easier to organize—but owning a device does not itself produce personal growth. Choose one that fits a routine you will actually use: handwriting notes, annotating reading, sketching, or keeping several work apps visible at once.
As of October 7, 2026, Samsung says its Galaxy Tab S12+ and Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra are available. Both include an S Pen, according to Samsung, and support tools for handwritten notes, app multitasking, and creative work.
How a tablet can help—and what it cannot do
A tablet can reduce the small obstacles that make a useful routine harder to start: finding a place to write notes, keeping a reading and its annotations together, or switching between a reference and a checklist. Samsung positions the S12 series around those kinds of tasks. That is a description of tools, not evidence that a tablet improves learning, productivity, or personal habits by itself.

Use the same routine to compare both models: imagine carrying the tablet to class or work, reading on it for a sustained period, writing by hand, and setting it on your usual desk. A larger workspace can be useful for side-by-side material, while a more manageable device may better fit a mobile routine. The evidence here does not establish a numeric size or weight difference, so verify those specifications rather than relying on the model names.

Match the tablet to a repeatable routine
Studying and lecture notes
Samsung describes using the S Pen to take notes and highlight material, and Samsung Notes to capture ideas and lecture takeaways. Its Note Assist feature can summarize notes. A workable study sequence is to keep the reading or lecture material available, write down key points, then organize or review those notes in Samsung Notes. A generated summary is a review aid, not a guarantee of understanding or retention.

If your routine involves articles, course material, or documents, handwriting and highlighting may help keep your annotations alongside what you are reading. Before relying on a particular reading or document workflow, check that the apps and file formats you need are supported; the cited Samsung materials do not specify compatibility for every service or format.

Weekly planning
A notes app can hold weekly priorities, reminders, or a short review of what you want to do next. For example, write down a few priorities at the start of the week and revisit the list during a regular planning session. This is a suggested way to use a notes app, not a tested outcome or a Samsung claim.
Creative practice
Samsung says the S Pen supports sketching and that Photoshop Mobile is preloaded on the S12 series. Those tools can support a low-friction sketching or image-editing session, but professional software is not a prerequisite for creative practice. Choose an app and a small exercise that match your interests rather than treating a more elaborate toolset as a requirement.

Use multitasking to keep a work session together
Samsung says the S12 series can show up to three apps side by side. Samsung also describes DeX as a desktop-like experience with resizable windows. For a study or planning session, that could mean arranging a reference, notes, and a checklist together instead of repeatedly switching between them.
These features provide ways to arrange work; they are not a measured productivity improvement. Whether the layout helps depends on the task, screen space, and your preference for working with multiple windows. Try the workflow with your actual apps before treating it as a reason to choose one model.

Decide whether you need a keyboard or bundled apps
A compatible keyboard cover may be useful if your routine involves longer writing sessions or frequent DeX use. The cited materials do not establish exact keyboard-cover compatibility, whether a cover is included, or current bundle terms. Confirm the fit for the specific S12 model and check the current offer before budgeting for one.
Samsung’s September 30, 2026 announcement says Notability is preloaded with a six-month trial and a 20% discount on the first subscription. These are time-sensitive offer terms; verify that they still apply and review the subscription conditions before relying on them. The same announcement says Photoshop Mobile is preloaded, but preloading an app does not establish that every feature or service is free.
