For the reported HP OmniBook 5 14-inch with Intel Wildcat Lake processors, 16GB of RAM is the safer choice for multitasking because the memory is soldered and should be treated as non-upgradeable. For storage, 512GB suits everyday applications and files; choose 1TB if you keep large photo, video, game, or media collections locally and that configuration is available. The reported entry configuration is 8GB of RAM and a 256GB SSD.
Which HP Wildcat Lake laptop does this advice cover?
The available configuration information concerns the 14-inch HP OmniBook 5, reported with Intel Core 5 320 or Core 7 350 processors associated with Wildcat Lake. Tom’s Hardware reported its memory and storage options on 1 October 2026. These figures describe that specific reported model, not every HP laptop using a Wildcat Lake processor, and they are not confirmed final specifications for every country or retailer.
Intel’s ARK listing gives Q2 2026 as the launch period for the Core 7 360, while a separate Tom’s Hardware report dated 16 April 2026 describes Wildcat Lake’s commercial branding as Intel Core Series 3. Neither establishes the final specifications or capacity limits of this HP laptop. What RAM and storage configurations are reported?
| Component | Reported options | Availability note |
|---|---|---|
| Memory | 8GB, 12GB, or 16GB LPDDR5-6400 | Tom’s Hardware reported 8GB and 16GB available at launch; 12GB was planned for November 2026. |
| Storage | 256GB, 512GB, or 1TB PCIe Gen 4 SSD | The report describes 256GB as the starting option and 1TB as planned for November 2026. |
Availability can vary by country, retailer, and time. The November 2026 configurations were reported as planned, not confirmed as currently on sale. Check the exact local listing before choosing a capacity. Tom’s Hardware configuration report.

How much RAM should you choose?
Choose 16GB for more multitasking headroom
For a workload that combines many browser tabs, video calls, office applications, and background tools, 16GB is the prudent choice among the reported options. This is a practical buying recommendation, not a measured performance comparison between configurations.
Consider 8GB only for lighter use
8GB is the reported entry-level memory option. It may suit a buyer with modest needs, but leaves less room for several applications to run together. Since the LPDDR5 memory is reported as soldered, assume you cannot add RAM later; select the capacity you want when buying.
Rank #2
- 1600MHz (PC3 12800) 204-pin CL11 SODIMM for laptop memory
- Runs at low voltage of 1.35V that enables to effectively decrease hardware power consumption.
- Compatible with MacBook Pro13-inch/15-inch Mid 2012, iMac 21.5-inch Late 2012/ Early/Late 2013
- Backed by a lifetime warranty to promise complete services and technical support.
What about 12GB?
12GB is a middle option in the reported lineup, but Tom’s Hardware said it was planned for November 2026 rather than available at launch. If it appears in a local listing, compare its price with the 16GB version and weigh the savings against the fixed memory capacity.
Is 256GB enough, or should you choose 512GB or 1TB?
256GB: entry capacity
The reported 256GB SSD is the starting option. It can work if you mainly use applications and keep few large files on the laptop, but a sizable local collection of games, photos, or videos means more frequent file management.
Rank #3
- Actual memory speed may vary depending on the system, CPU, motherboard, BIOS settings, and supported memory configuration. DDR4 3200MHz modules may operate at lower speeds such as 2933MHz or 2666MHz when supported by the host system. Please check your device specifications and compatibility before purchase.
- Adherence to JEDEC and compliance to RoHS with respect to environmental protection regulation, production and manufacturing
- All new generation product of DRAM module. Strict test and verification procedures are performed for products
- Lifetime warranty and Free technical support
- Installation video is attached in product image. ※Refer to the latest version on the official website. In case of discrepancies, the official website prevails.
512GB: balanced everyday target
For ordinary applications and local files, 512GB is a sensible target. The reported configuration information does not say how much space remains usable after the operating system and recovery partitions, so do not treat the listed capacity as entirely available for personal files.
1TB: for larger local libraries
Consider 1TB if you expect to keep large creative projects, game installations, or media libraries on the laptop. The reported 1TB option was planned for November 2026, so confirm that the exact SKU is actually offered where you are shopping.

Can you upgrade the RAM or SSD later?
The reported LPDDR5 memory is soldered, so plan on the selected RAM capacity being fixed. The same configuration report identifies a PCIe Gen 4 SSD but does not establish whether it is user-replaceable, how many M.2 slots the laptop has, or the maximum supported SSD capacity. Do not assume an SSD upgrade is supported: consult the service documentation for the exact SKU before buying a replacement drive.

How to make the final choice
- Pick RAM first. Choose 16GB if you expect to multitask heavily or want more headroom, because the reported memory is soldered.
- Estimate what you will keep locally. Choose 256GB for a small local footprint, 512GB for typical applications and files, or consider 1TB for a large local library.
- Check the exact listing. Confirm both capacities and the model’s availability with the local HP or retailer listing; reported future availability is not a guarantee of current stock.
- Compare the price difference. Consider the cost of the higher capacity alongside your workload and likely file growth. No authoritative performance comparison among these configurations is established by the cited reports.
