There is no dependable single price for running a 24/7 YouTube stream on an Acer Veriton N desktop: the exact model, its average power while encoding, and your electricity rate all matter. Measure the computer at the wall while it is streaming, then calculate the energy cost from that average draw and the per-kWh rate on your bill.
Calculate the monthly electricity cost
Use this formula, where the electricity price is the rate per kilowatt-hour (kWh) on your bill:
Monthly energy cost = average watts × hours per day × days ÷ 1,000 × price per kWh
For a stream running continuously, use 24 hours per day. For a 30-day month at a hypothetical $0.20/kWh, each average watt costs $0.144 per month. As an arithmetic example—not a measurement of an Acer—a 15 W continuous load would use 10.8 kWh and cost $2.16 over 30 days. A 30.44-day average month would cost slightly more at the same draw and rate.

Use the energy rate from your own bill rather than treating the example rate as a current local tariff. This calculation covers energy use; fixed monthly utility charges do not necessarily change when you run the computer.
Why “Acer Veriton N” is not enough to give one wattage
Veriton N describes a product family, not the exact configuration or its power draw under your streaming workload. ENERGY STAR lists the Acer Veriton Vero N4730GT at 7.6 W short idle, 2.4 W long idle, 2.4 W sleep, 0.4 W off, and 32.0 kWh model TEC (ENERGY STAR listing, captured 2026). Those are listed model and operating-state figures; they are not a continuous-streaming test and should not be used as the stream’s wattage. The listing also does not establish that your Veriton N is that specific model or configuration.

Encoding video is a different workload from idling, sleeping, or being off. YouTube’s encoder documentation specifies stream settings such as resolution, frame rate, bitrate, and codecs, but does not quantify how many watts a particular Veriton N will use with those settings (YouTube encoder settings).

Measure the actual setup while it streams
- Identify the computer. Check the model label or system information so you know which Veriton N configuration you have. The family name alone cannot establish streaming power.
- Set up the stream you intend to run. Use the intended video, resolution, frame rate, encoder, and other stream settings. A measurement from a different workload may not represent the stream you plan to keep running.
- Measure at the wall. Use a plug-in electricity monitor, or other reliable wall-draw measurement, while the computer is encoding and sending the stream. Let the reading settle and record its average over a representative period, rather than relying on a momentary peak or an idle reading. No specific meter model is required or tested here.
- Include only equipment that will stay on. Include a monitor in the measurement only if it will remain on during normal operation. If the computer and monitor have separate power readings, measure and add the loads that will actually remain on.
- Apply your billing rate. Convert the average watts into kWh over your chosen period using the formula, then multiply by your bill’s energy rate. If your rate varies by time or usage, use a representative rate or calculate the periods separately.
Check the stream’s operating requirements separately
A correct electricity estimate does not guarantee an uninterrupted stream. YouTube’s guidance for encoder-based live streaming covers resolution, frame rate, bitrate, codecs, and upload capacity (YouTube encoder settings). Choose settings your computer and internet connection can sustain; the documentation does not predict the Veriton’s wall draw at those settings.

YouTube’s help page says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived (YouTube live-stream archiving). That statement does not establish that a single 24-hour stream is supported as an uninterrupted workflow. Check YouTube’s current live-stream requirements and plan your stream around the applicable rules rather than treating the under-12-hour archiving note as proof of 24-hour support.
Streaming rights matter as well as equipment. Use video and audio you have the rights to broadcast, and check YouTube’s copyright and monetization rules for your content. Repeated or reused material may raise separate policy issues; continuous availability alone does not establish that a stream is eligible for monetization.

Compare local electricity with a hosted stream
Keeping the Veriton N at home may cost little in electricity if its measured draw and your energy rate are low, but the power bill is only one part of the decision. Consider the desktop’s stream-time draw, your local rate, the internet connection and upload capacity, the encoding workload, uptime expectations, and the maintenance you are willing to handle. Compare those with the current price and terms of any hosted service. No universal cheaper option follows without your actual inputs.
