The game takes place across Koholint Island and its dungeons. Nintendo also highlights renovated mini-games, collectible dolls, and optional Chamber Dungeons, a build-your-own puzzle mode. Spending time on those activities can push a run beyond the main-story estimate.

How quickly you solve puzzles and navigate the adventure matters. In a 2019 GameSpot account, writer Peter Brown reported spending roughly 15 hours finishing the game while finding about half of its collectible seashells and Pieces of Heart. That is one player’s experience, not an average; Brown also cautioned that the console profile clock was imprecise. He noted that players familiar with the original can finish faster.

How to check your own recorded playtime
- Open your user profile on the Nintendo Switch.
- Review the play activity shown for recently played games. Nintendo’s support instructions explain where to find this information.
Profile play activity is useful for checking your own recorded time, but it is not a precise measure of every minute spent playing.
Does the estimate apply to the Switch version?
Nintendo lists the Switch game as released on September 20, 2019, and supports TV, tabletop, and handheld play modes. The hours above describe playthrough estimates for this game; they are not official Nintendo timing guidance.
