Young golfer Kate Korngold founded Featherie after struggling to find high-performance golf clothes designed for teen girls. The line, as described in a July 2024 profile, aims to combine a comfortable fit and swing-friendly details with styles young players feel good wearing. The original title’s subject is not confirmed, but Korngold is the closest match in the available reporting.
Why Korngold started Featherie
The Newsette reported on July 23, 2024, that Korngold was 14 and had played golf since her father first took her to a driving range at age four. As she began playing more seriously, she says she could not find high-performance golf apparel made for teen girls, even though her brother could find golf clothes suited to his age.
Korngold founded Featherie to address that gap. “Because I’m a golfer, I knew exactly what I needed out of my golf clothes. I wanted them to be stylish, high-performance, and functional,” she told The Newsette.
Her point is about more than choosing an outfit. Korngold argues that girls should feel they belong in golf, saying, “You have to make girls feel like they are just as much a part of the game as boys.” If a young player cannot find clothes that fit her age and needs in a pro shop, she says, that can affect whether she feels welcome in the sport.

What the reported designs are meant to do
The Newsette profile describes Featherie apparel for teen and tween girls, including pants and a skort. The features Korngold discussed address small but practical needs during a round:
- Storage: tee holders and pockets under the skort for golf balls.
- Movement: armholes sized to allow free movement during a swing.
- Fit and coverage: zippers intended to stay put while swinging and opaque fabric.
Korngold also said the fabrics are recycled, UPF 50, AZO-free, and PFAS-free. Those are claims reported in the 2024 interview; the reviewed material does not include independent testing or verification. The profile does not establish Featherie’s current assortment, availability, or whether the collection Korngold expected in 2025 went on sale.

Why clothes made for young golfers matter
The National Golf Foundation’s 2026 facts page reports that just under 4 million juniors played golf on-course in the United States in 2025, and girls made up 35% of those junior golfers. Girls’ share was 15% in 2000. The same page says more than 8 million U.S. females age six and older played on-course golf in 2025, representing 28% of on-course golfers. For any young golfer, useful apparel should allow a full swing and feel comfortable through a round. In a February 2026 interview with Women & Golf, Fiona Reilly, Apparel Creative Director for PING Europe, recommends considering fit, freedom of movement, and fabrics that feel comfortable, along with layering and varying lengths. Her advice is general women’s-apparel guidance, not junior-specific sizing advice, and reflects a representative’s perspective on her employer’s designs.

- Check coverage: make sure a skirt, skort, or top stays comfortable and appropriately opaque when bending and swinging.
- Look for useful storage: pockets or tee holders can keep small items accessible without relying on a bag for every shot.
- Choose layers for conditions: a comfortable base and an easy-to-remove layer can help adapt to changing temperatures.
- Include the player in the choice: a silhouette and style she likes can help her feel at ease on the course.
