Halo Infinite’s Battle Pass is a progression track, while the Shop sells items that unlock as soon as you buy them. Free rewards can be earned without paying; Premium is needed to claim paid-track rewards. Passes do not expire, but progressing an inactive older pass requires Premium. Halo Credits pay for Premium access and Shop offers; Spartan Points are a separate currency for the Exchange.
How the Battle Pass and Operation Pass work
Halo Support describes the Battle Pass as a way to earn customizations for Spartans, vehicles, weapons, and more by completing multiplayer challenges. Match XP and challenges advance the selected pass; reaching a tier unlocks its reward. Rewards marked Free can be claimed without Premium. Premium is required for rewards on the paid track. If you buy Premium after progressing the free track, you can claim the Premium rewards up to your existing tier.
Halo’s support documentation uses both “Battle Pass” and “Operation Pass.” Each Operation has a corresponding pass. Progress goes to the pass you currently have selected, not every pass at once. Passes remain available permanently, but Premium is required to keep progressing a pass from an Operation that is no longer active. Halo Support’s Battle Pass and Free-to-Play FAQ explains these rules.

| Offer | Cost | What it includes |
|---|---|---|
| Premium Pass | 1,000 Halo Credits | All 100 paid tiers, the Charged Quill weapon model, the Phoenix Gold weapon coating, an extra Challenge slot while equipped, and bonus Match XP while the Operation is active. |

How the Shop differs from the Exchange
The Battle Pass earns rewards over time as you progress. Shop offers unlock immediately after purchase. Some Shop offers change weekly and others daily, according to Halo Support, so check the in-game Shop or Halo Waypoint for the current lineup rather than relying on an old list.
Recommended Free Tools
The Exchange is a separate storefront with its own currency. Halo Credits are used for Shop purchases and paid pass access; Spartan Points (SP) are used for Exchange customizations. Halo Support says SP can be earned through Daily Challenges, Ultimate Challenges, and qualifying new Operation Passes; some pass tiers also grant SP. Halo Support’s Spartan Points explanation covers that currency.
| System | How rewards are obtained | Currency or access | Timing |
|---|---|---|---|
| Battle Pass / Operation Pass | Play multiplayer and earn progress toward tier rewards | Free rewards need no Premium; Premium rewards require paid access, purchased with Halo Credits | Earned by progressing tiers |
| Shop | Choose and purchase a digital offer | Halo Credits | Unlocks immediately after purchase; offers may rotate |
| Exchange | Choose an Exchange customization | Spartan Points | Purchased with earned points |
Where to buy and what to check first
Halo Support documents a purchase route through Halo Waypoint: sign in with the Xbox account connected to your game, open your Halo Infinite Service Record, and use its Store area. From there, a Credits bundle can redirect to Xbox.com for checkout; a pass or Shop item can be selected and confirmed using the required Credits. The Exchange tile opens its separate storefront, which uses Spartan Points. See Halo Support’s Halo Credits purchase instructions for the documented route.
