Google’s Universal Cart is a cross-merchant shopping hub announced at Google I/O on May 19, 2026. Google Wallet Help currently says U.S. shoppers can discover and add products through Google Search & Shopping, AI Mode, and Gemini Apps. Google’s current help page does not separately identify Google Images as a supported cart surface, so Images support should not be assumed.
What Google’s Universal Cart does
Universal Cart is designed to collect products from different merchants in one Google shopping hub. Google says shoppers can add products while using Google services, then see items organized by merchant and review or remove them in the cart. Google described the feature as “an intelligent shopping cart and your new hub for shopping on Google,” in an announcement by Vidhya Srinivasan, Google VP/GM of Ads and Commerce, on May 19, 2026.
Google says the cart can work in the background to find deals and price drops, show price-history insights, and alert shoppers when an item returns to stock. It also described compatibility flags using a custom-PC shopping example, and said Wallet payment perks, loyalty information, and merchant offers may help shoppers compare options. These are Google-described capabilities, not independently verified performance results. Google reported that people shop across its services more than a billion times a day and that its Shopping Graph contains more than 60 billion product listings; both figures are company-reported.
Can you add products from Search and Images?
Google Wallet Help currently lists Google Search & Shopping, AI Mode, and Gemini Apps as places to discover and add products. Google’s launch announcement said the initial rollout would be Search and the Gemini app in the United States that summer, with YouTube and Gmail to follow. That announcement described a rollout plan, not confirmation that every named service is available now.

Google Images is not named separately in the current Wallet Help list. Although Images is closely associated with Google Search, the available documentation does not establish it as a distinct, currently supported Universal Cart surface. Where is Universal Cart available?
Google Wallet Help currently says Universal Cart is available only in the United States. Do not confuse that general cart availability with eligibility for checkout through the Universal Commerce Protocol (UCP). Google Merchant Center Help describes UCP checkout for eligible products in the U.S., Canada, and Australia, but limits it to select merchants and partners that meet requirements and complete a technical implementation. An eligible listing in AI Mode in Search or Gemini may show a checkout button; that does not mean the full Universal Cart is generally available in those countries. Where does checkout happen?
The checkout route depends on whether the merchant participates in checkout on Google. Google says the retailer remains the seller of record in either case.

Google Wallet Help says that when you have a purchase problem, you should contact the merchant. It also explains that some purchases do not appear in My Orders because those merchants do not share order information with Google. An incomplete Wallet order list therefore does not necessarily mean the purchase failed.

Which retailers are involved?
Google’s May 19 announcement named Nike, Sephora, Target, Ulta Beauty, Walmart, Wayfair, and Shopify merchants such as Fenty and Steve Madden as examples connected with select checkout features. The examples do not establish that every product from those retailers is eligible for checkout on Google.
Google’s May 20 retailer-focused post described plans to bring UCP-powered checkout to Canada and Australia in the coming months, then later to the U.K., and to expand into hotel booking and local food delivery. Those were announced plans, not confirmation of current availability. Google also describes UCP as an open standard for coordinating agents and systems across product discovery, buying, and post-purchase support; participation is phased and limited to select merchants.
