Google TV Streamer can make its paired Voice Remote play a chime for 30 seconds. You can start it with the button on the back of the Streamer, a supported Google Assistant device, Google Home, or the TV’s settings when you have another way to navigate. The sound comes from the remote; this feature does not show its location on a map.
Ways to make the remote play a sound
Google documents four ways to start Find My Remote. The quickest option is the button on the Streamer itself; the settings route is useful only if you can already control the TV another way.
Press the button on the Streamer
- Briefly press the button on the back of the Google TV Streamer. Google identifies this as the recommended method.
- Look for the TV prompt, “Playing sound for 30 sec.”
- Listen for the chime from the remote. Press any remote button to stop it.
Ask Google Assistant
Use an Assistant-enabled device and try one of Google’s example commands: “Hey Google, where’s my remote?”, “Hey Google, find my remote?”, or “Hey Google, locate my remote?” The device confirms the request, and the remote plays the sound for 30 seconds. Google’s Find my remote instructions list these commands.
Use the Google Home app
- Open Google Home and select Devices.
- Choose the room and TV associated with the Streamer.
- Open Settings, then select Find my Google TV remote.
The remote plays the 30-second sound. Google Home can also cancel it before it finishes. Google’s feature overview describes the app route.

Open the TV settings
Navigate to All settings → Remote and accessories → Find my remote → Play sound. This option requires another physical or virtual remote to move through the menus; it cannot help if the missing Voice Remote is your only way to control the TV.
What the sound does—and how to stop it
The paired Voice Remote emits a chime through the audio port on its back. Its normal playback lasts 30 seconds. Press any button on the remote to stop the sound, or cancel it in Google Home. Google’s support instructions describe the duration and stop controls: Find my remote with Google TV Streamer (4K).

This is an audible finder, not a location tracker: Google’s documentation describes making the remote sound, not displaying its position on a map. Google does not publish a measured sound range, loudness rating, or reliability study in the cited support and product material. There is therefore no documented distance guarantee or basis to promise that the chime will be audible through cushions, closed doors, or other obstructions.
Pairing and device compatibility
Google says Find My Remote requires the Voice Remote to be paired with a Google TV Streamer. The Streamer’s rear-button method is documented for its Google TV remote. Do not infer that the finder feature works on Chromecast with Google TV just because the remote itself is listed as compatible with those devices.

Google lists the Google TV Streamer Voice Remote as compatible with Google TV Streamer (4K) and Chromecast with Google TV (4K and HD). That is general remote compatibility, distinct from the stated Google TV Streamer pairing requirement for Find My Remote. The product listing says two AAA batteries are included.
