Amazon Prime does not give every order the same delivery time. In the US, Prime offers Same-Day, One-Day and Two-Day delivery on millions of eligible items, but availability depends on the item and delivery address. For a particular order, the estimate shown for your address on the product page and at checkout is the best guide.
What delivery speeds does Amazon Prime offer?
Amazon’s US Prime page lists Same-Day, One-Day and Two-Day delivery on millions of items. These are options for eligible item-and-address combinations, not a blanket promise that every Prime purchase will arrive within two days. Some listings may show a different delivery estimate.
Amazon reported that more than 13 billion items arrived the same day or the next day worldwide in 2025. That is an Amazon-reported global total announced in February 2026; it does not indicate the odds or delivery speed for an individual order.

What determines your delivery date?
- The item: Not every product qualifies for each Prime delivery speed.
- Your delivery address: Available options can vary by location, including ZIP code.
- The order cutoff: For Same-Day Delivery, the listing may show a countdown to the cutoff. Ordering after it can affect the date offered.
- Fees or minimums: The checkout summary shows any charge for the option you select.
Amazon’s eligibility guidance explains that item and address conditions affect which Prime options appear. Amazon’s US Same-Day Delivery explainer says that in most cities the service is free for Prime orders over $25 and costs $2.99 below that threshold. Treat that as the offer described on the explainer, not an unchanging fee rule: check the current charge and terms for your order.

How to check the delivery estimate before ordering
- Set the delivery address to the place where you want the package sent.
- Open the product listing and read the delivery message for that address. If Same-Day Delivery is offered, note any cutoff countdown.
- At checkout, confirm the selected speed, estimated date or time, and any charge. The available choice can depend on the item and address.
- Place the order only after confirming the estimate shown for the option you want.
Amazon says Same-Day orders show an estimated delivery time in the order summary. An estimate on a general Prime benefits page cannot tell you when a specific item will reach your address.
How to check an order that is already on its way
Open the order’s details and tracking information in your Amazon account. These show the status and the latest available delivery information. For a purchase from a participating external store using Buy with Prime, use the confirmation or shipment-tracking links provided for that purchase; that service is separate from an order placed on Amazon.com.

What to do if your Prime order is late
- Review the order status and tracking for an updated delivery estimate or other status information.
- If the package has not arrived, use Amazon Customer Service and follow the instructions shown for your order and marketplace.
Amazon’s published late-delivery guidance is for the UK, so its specific waiting periods, time limits and remedies should not be assumed to apply to US orders. Check the guidance presented for your own marketplace and order.
