To pair JBL wireless earbuds, put them in Bluetooth pairing mode, open Bluetooth settings on your phone, tablet, or computer, and select the earbuds’ name. The action that starts pairing mode differs by JBL model, so use your model’s quick start guide if the earbuds do not appear.
Pair JBL earbuds with a phone, tablet, or computer
- Put the earbuds in pairing mode. Turn them on or open their case as directed by the instructions for your exact model. Do not assume that opening the case always starts pairing mode; the action varies across JBL earbuds. The JBL Vibe Buds 2 Quick Start Guide shows its model’s first-time pairing flow.
- Open Bluetooth settings on your source device. Make sure Bluetooth is enabled, then wait for the JBL earbuds’ name to appear in the available-device list.
- Select the earbuds. Tap or click the matching name and follow any on-screen prompt. For Vibe Buds 2, the guide shows selecting “JBL Vibe Buds 2.” After connection, the device should show the earbuds as connected.
Can you use Fast Pair or Swift Pair?
Some combinations of earbuds and source devices offer a quick-pair prompt, but availability depends on the model and device. The Vibe Buds 2 guide shows Android Fast Pair, standard Bluetooth selection, and Windows Swift Pair. For that model, the guide specifies Android 6 or later and Windows 10 version 1803 or later for the respective prompts. If no prompt appears, use the standard Bluetooth device list instead.

If JBL earbuds do not appear in Bluetooth settings
- Check that Bluetooth is on and the source device is scanning for available devices.
- Use the pairing-mode action in the quick start guide for your exact JBL model; do not rely on a button hold or touch gesture from a different model.
- If the earbuds were paired to another device, follow the model’s instructions for pairing them to a different device, then scan again.
Pairing actions can be model-specific. For example, JBL’s support guidance for JBL Free says to hold the right earpiece for five seconds to pair to a different device, while its light alternates between blue and white. That instruction applies to JBL Free, not to JBL earbuds generally. See JBL’s JBL Free pairing information.

This is different from a phone or computer failing to connect: the two earpieces may have lost their link to one another. JBL’s recommended sequence is:

- Forget or unpair the JBL earbuds in the source device’s Bluetooth settings.
- Manually pair the left and right earpieces using the instructions for the exact model.
- Pair the earbuds with the source device again by selecting their name in Bluetooth settings.
JBL provides this sequence in its TWS left-and-right pairing troubleshooting guide. If the earbuds still do not link, JBL advises forgetting them again, resetting them according to the model’s instructions, manually pairing the earpieces together, and then reconnecting them to the source device.
When to reset JBL earbuds
Use reset only after checking pairing mode and trying the appropriate re-pairing steps. A reset clears previous settings and Bluetooth pairing data, and JBL gives different reset procedures for different product families. Find the instructions for your exact model rather than trying a reset sequence from another pair. JBL’s support how-to index includes reset guidance for multiple product families.

Connecting to more than one device
Multipoint is model-specific. The Vibe Buds 2 guide describes connection to a maximum of two devices; do not assume another JBL model has the same capability. Check your model’s guide before relying on simultaneous connections.
