Diablo IV’s Tower is a timed, multi-floor dungeon where players race to build progress, defeat a final boss before the clock expires, and earn a place on a leaderboard. Standings are split by solo class or party size, and by Normal or Hardcore. The game displays each entry’s completed tier and time, but Blizzard has not published the full ranking or tie-break formula.

What happens during a Tower run?

The Tower is an endgame competition built around progress through a series of floors with randomized layouts and monster families. Kill enemies to build score and progress; once you have advanced far enough, the final Tower boss appears. Defeat that boss before time runs out to complete the run and qualify for the leaderboard. Blizzard’s initial description summarizes the setting as “a series of floors featuring randomized layouts and monster families.” Blizzard’s Tower and Leaderboards Beta announcement

Monster kills contribute score in proportion to the experience those monsters provide on death. Elite, Champion, and Goblin kills can also drop Orbs that add Tower progress. Blizzard later said it adjusted monster score to better reflect each enemy’s challenge. These details explain how a run builds progress, but they do not establish the complete leaderboard ranking algorithm.

How to enter and find the standings

  1. Complete Rank 2 of Season Rank to unlock the Tower, according to Blizzard’s Season of Divine Intervention overview.
  2. In Cerrigar, use the Artificer’s Obelisk to enter the Tower. The leaderboard is also available from the Collections menu.
  3. Choose from the difficulty tiers available to your character. Blizzard later noted that the Tower itself could unlock Difficulty Tiers, rather than requiring every tier to have been unlocked elsewhere first.

Blizzard says opting out of cross-platform play limits access to the leaderboard. The cited instructions describe an in-game leaderboard; they do not establish an official public web leaderboard. Season of Divine Intervention overview

How the leaderboard is divided

Choose the ladder that matches how you played. Solo competition is separated by class, while group competition is organized by party size. Normal and Hardcore standings are separate.

Format Leaderboard categories
Solo Barbarian, Necromancer, Sorcerer, Rogue, Druid, Spiritborn, and—after the Lord of Hatred update—Warlock
Party Party of two, party of three, and party of four
Game mode Separate Normal and Hardcore standings

Platform, friends, and clan are viewing filters, not additional competitive formats. Blizzard’s overview lists all-platform and PC-only views, as well as friends and clan filters. What an entry shows—and what rank does not tell you

Leaderboard entries display rank, player name, tier completed, time, and date. A later update added build snapshots for qualifying leaderboard entries, letting players inspect the build associated with a run. Blizzard described this as a snapshot captured when the entry ranks on the leaderboard. Season of Reckoning announcement

Use completed tier and time to understand the result, but do not assume that fastest time alone determines placement, or that the highest tier always wins. Blizzard’s published descriptions explain score inputs and list displayed result fields, but do not provide the full ranking order or tie-break rules.

What changed after the beta?

The initial beta announcement said there would be no specific leaderboard rewards while the feature was in beta. That was the early design, not the later reward system. Blizzard subsequently announced Tower milestone rewards and Season Rank progression tied to Tower play. These include Treasures of the Artificer, which Blizzard says contain Lore Books and items with guaranteed Greater Affixes; first-time completion of higher Tower Tiers can also earn Artificer’s Favor. Season of Reckoning announcement Blizzard’s Tower and Leaderboards Beta announcement

The mode also evolved beyond its original beta setup. Blizzard announced new environments, monsters, and bosses, adjustments to scoring, and a change to when the run timer starts: leaving the starting circle starts the run, or it starts automatically after ten seconds inside the Tower.

Competition dates are season-specific

The original Season of Divine Intervention beta announcement described multiple two-week rounds and said the schedule could change. A later Season of Reckoning announcement described competitions beginning on Thursdays after a release or patch to allow time for balancing and bug fixes. It named April 30, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. PDT as the next opening at that time. Those are historical schedule details, not confirmation of the active round calendar on October 9, 2026. Check the live game or a current Blizzard announcement for dates before planning around a specific competition.
