Players on different platforms can play the original Among Us together, but the game’s official materials do not specify built-in voice chat for that title. To talk without Discord, use a separate group voice call everyone can access, keep the game running, and make sure both the call and game audio are audible. The game’s own text chat is another option, subject to account and parental-permission settings.
Can cross-platform Among Us players talk together?
Yes. The original Among Us supports cross-platform play, so friends on different supported platforms can join the same game. Innersloth recommends playing online with friends using voice chat, but its official game page does not name a calling service or specify built-in voice chat for the original game. In practice, arrange speech through a separate call that works on every player’s device.
Do not confuse the original game with Among Us 3D. The 3D title has proximity voice chat and PC/VR crossplay, but it is a separate game and is incompatible with the original Among Us. Innersloth’s Among Us 3D page describes that title’s features.

- Check the game. Confirm everyone has launched the original Among Us and not Among Us 3D.
- Join the same game lobby. Create or enter a private lobby in the usual way, and confirm every player can connect before starting.
- Choose a separate group call. Use a calling service that each player can access on their device. The official game materials reviewed do not certify or identify one non-Discord service for every platform combination, so verify that your particular group can join the same call.
- Check microphones and playback. Have each player speak briefly and confirm others can hear them. Use a headset or adjust speaker and microphone levels if needed to avoid echo or feedback.
- Balance the two audio sources. Keep game audio on while the call is active. Lower call volume if it masks game sounds or cues, and lower game volume if it makes conversation difficult.
A headset with a microphone can make a separate call easier to hear, but it does not add native voice chat to the original game.

What to look for in a separate calling service
Because there is no single service identified as universally compatible by the game’s official materials, choose based on your group’s actual devices and needs. Before the session, check:
- Whether every player can access the service from their device.
- Whether everyone can join the same group call at the same time.
- Whether players can easily mute, unmute, and adjust microphone levels.
- Whether each player can hear both the call and game audio while playing.
Can you use Among Us text chat instead?
Yes. The original game includes in-game text chat. Logged-in players who are eligible can check or change the option at Settings > Data > Chat Type. The available choices listed in Innersloth’s FAQ are Free or Quick Chat and Quick Chat only. Free Chat may not be available to every account; child accounts require parental permission.

Quick Chat is text, not voice. It provides preset phrases and a Quick Chat Builder, as described in Innersloth’s Quick Chat update notes. Use it if a player cannot or prefers not to join the group call.
