HotHardware announced a live discussion about Intel’s Core Ultra 200S “Arrow Lake” desktop processors for November 8, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. ET. Intel executive Robert Hallock was the scheduled guest. The announcement documents the planned event, not what was said during the stream.

What was the Arrow Lake discussion?

HotHardware published the invitation on November 7, 2024, describing a discussion about Intel’s newest desktop chip architecture, Arrow Lake. The notice named Robert Hallock, Intel’s vice president and general manager of Client AI & Technical Marketing, as the guest. It directed viewers to YouTube and also mentioned Facebook, LinkedIn, and HotHardware’s Twitch channel. Read HotHardware’s event announcement.

The scheduled time—November 8, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. Eastern Time—has passed. The announcement does not provide a transcript or establish what the livestream ultimately covered, so no specific statement or conclusion should be attributed to Hallock.

What does “Core Ultra 200S” mean?

Intel identifies its Core Ultra 200S desktop processors as Series 2 products, formerly code-named Arrow Lake. For a concrete example, Intel’s Core Ultra 9 285K specifications list 24 cores: eight Performance-cores and 16 Efficient-cores, with a maximum turbo frequency of up to 5.7 GHz. Intel lists support for up to DDR5-6400 MT/s, but memory capability depends on the processor and memory configuration. See Intel’s Core Ultra 9 285K specifications.

What platform does a Core Ultra 200S desktop build need?

Series 2 desktop processors use the LGA 1851 socket with Intel 800 Series chipsets. Intel says they are not cross-compatible with older platforms, so an existing motherboard for an older processor generation cannot be assumed to work. Check the exact CPU and motherboard support lists before buying.

Memory support also varies by processor model and configuration. Confirm the board’s supported memory type and DIMM arrangement, as well as the processor’s specifications; a kit’s advertised speed is not a guarantee that every build will operate at that rate. Intel’s compatibility guidance was last reviewed March 11, 2026. Read Intel’s Series 2 desktop processor compatibility guidance.

What did Intel claim at launch?

When Intel announced the Core Ultra 200S family on October 10, 2024, it said the unlocked desktop lineup included five processors and claimed “up to 14% more performance in multi-threaded workloads than the previous generation.” That was Intel’s company launch claim, not an independently verified test result. What to check before choosing a 200S processor

  • CPU model and workload: Compare the exact SKU’s specifications with the applications you plan to run; the 285K’s core count and turbo frequency are specific to that model.
  • Motherboard: Confirm LGA 1851 socket and Intel 800 Series chipset support for the selected processor.
  • Memory: Check the CPU and motherboard documentation for supported DDR5 speeds and configurations.
  • Power and cooling: Intel lists the 285K at 125 W processor base power and 250 W maximum turbo power. Plan the system’s power delivery and cooling around the exact CPU and build.

Intel’s product page gives the 285K a recommended customer price range of $589–$599. This is Intel’s published recommendation, not a verified current retail price or statement of availability.
