To create product subcategories in a manual-mode store, add them under Store management → Products → Categories, assign products, then create a page for each subcategory and add a product-list section filtered to that grouping. Link each subcategory page from its parent category page so shoppers can navigate the hierarchy.

Before you start

Manual-mode store management requires a Hostinger Ecommerce subscription and an enabled ecommerce platform. Products added in store management do not automatically appear on your website; you must place them in product-list sections. See Hostinger’s manual-mode store setup guide and ecommerce setup instructions.

Create subcategories and assign products

  1. Open Store management → Products → Categories.

  2. Create a subcategory as you would a regular category, then assign the relevant products and save.

  3. Repeat for each grouping you want shoppers to browse.

    #1 Best Overall

A product can belong to multiple categories or subcategories. For example, a ring could be assigned to Accessories, Rings, and Golden rings. This lets you organize the same product in more than one useful path without duplicating the product record. See Hostinger’s category and subcategory guide.

Build a page that displays each subcategory

  1. In the website editor, open Pages and navigation and add a page for the subcategory. Give it a clear name that matches the grouping.

  2. Add a product-list section to the page.

  3. Open the section settings and select the relevant category or subcategory as its product filter. Product-list sections show all products by default, so choose the filter deliberately.

  4. Save or publish the changes, then check that the page displays products from the intended grouping.

Creating the subcategory in store management and displaying it on the site are separate tasks: the category organizes products, while the filtered product-list section makes that group visible on a page. Hostinger describes the page and section workflow in its manual-mode guide and product-list instructions.

Link subcategory pages from the parent category

On the parent category page, add text, a button, or an image for each subcategory and link each element to its corresponding page. You can hide subcategory pages from the main navigation and link to them from the parent page instead. Hostinger’s documentation does not establish whether hiding a page from navigation changes its search-engine indexing, so do not treat that setting as an indexing control.

For a broader category-page setup, Hostinger documents dedicated category pages with product-list sections filtered to the matching category. Page settings include the page URL suffix and category-page URL slug, and category links can also be placed in a dropdown menu. See its category-page instructions.

Choose a page layout that fits your store

Approach Navigation and upkeep Best suited to
Several filtered product-list sections on one page Shallower navigation, but the page may need more organizing and maintenance as sections grow. A small number of product groupings that shoppers can browse together.
A separate page for each category or subcategory More pages to maintain, with clearer links from a parent category to a specific product group. Stores where each subcategory needs its own focused landing page.

Both layouts use product-list sections; the key difference is whether shoppers browse the groupings together or follow links to dedicated pages.

Account for the manual-mode language limitation

Hostinger documents that manual-mode stores use one language selected in checkout settings. Its described workaround is to duplicate translated products and create language-specific categories and pages. See Hostinger’s manual-mode language guidance.
