HostGator email comes in three distinct forms: up to two mailboxes included with eligible hosting, paid cPanel Email for additional mailboxes, and Professional Email with separate storage and productivity tiers. The current HostGator help article says hosting includes up to two mailboxes—not unlimited accounts—so check your plan and Customer Portal before buying or renewing.
Does HostGator include email hosting?
HostGator’s current help article says hosting plans include up to two email mailboxes at no additional charge. No mailbox is created automatically when the hosting account is provisioned; you must create one in cPanel. More mailboxes require a paid cPanel Email plan. Older HostGator pages or legacy plan descriptions may refer to unlimited email accounts. What comes with shared-hosting email?
HostGator’s shared-hosting feature page lists POP3 with SMTP, webmail, IMAP support for phone access, SpamAssassin, aliases, autoresponders, mail forwarding, and 25 mailing lists. These describe available features, not measured uptime, inbox placement, or delivery performance. Review the shared-hosting feature page for the vendor’s current description.
How paid cPanel Email works
HostGator’s cPanel Email overview groups paid tiers primarily by mailbox count. Its listed free allowance covers zero to two mailboxes; Basic covers three to ten, Plus eleven to twenty, and Premium unlimited mailboxes. The listed hourly sending allowance is 200 emails per hour per domain for Free, Basic, and Plus, compared with 1,000 for Premium. SpamExperts is listed for Premium only. HostGator says exceeding mailbox or sending limits may prevent you from adding mailboxes or sending outbound messages until you upgrade. It also says mailbox data is preserved if a plan is downgraded or not renewed, although sending and receiving may be restricted until the appropriate plan is active again. Professional Email is a separate product path from cPanel Email, with its own plan names, storage figures, features, and pricing. HostGator lists calendar and contacts, vacation responder, undo send, advanced anti-spam and anti-virus, and data encryption across Pro, Plus, and Ultra. Plus and Ultra add options such as send later, follow-up reminders, two-factor authentication, sending as an alias, grammar and spelling checks, and branding. Ultra also lists Titan AI, signature and email designers, campaigns, bookings, an invoice builder, and AI summary. If email is the main reason you are considering shared hosting, include the hosting charge in your comparison: included mailboxes are part of a hosting purchase, not a standalone email-only subscription. HostGator says shared-hosting promotional pricing applies to the initial term and renews at regular rates afterward; its price chart notes that the selected term is billed upfront.
