Hohem’s stabilizer technology has evolved beyond three-axis camera movement to include subject tracking, remote framing and more flexible setups. The differences are model-specific: a phone gimbal such as the iSteady M7 is not simply a smaller version of the camera-oriented MT3 Pro, and a newer model is not automatically better for every creator.
What Hohem’s stabilizer technology includes
Hohem’s catalog covers smartphone and camera gimbals. Across the examples discussed here, three-axis stabilization is the common foundation; the practical distinctions are payload, tracking, control, portability and included accessories. Hohem’s product catalog lists models including the iSteady V3 Ultra, M7, X3/X3 SE, M6, MT3 Pro, MT3 and MT2, but capabilities should be checked model by model.
The shift in the product line is toward adding tools around stabilization: AI tracking, app or onboard control, detachable remotes, preview screens, lights and extension features. These features can change how a creator frames and operates a shot, but manufacturer specifications alone do not establish which gimbal produces better footage in independent use.

All features and payloads above are manufacturer-listed specifications, not independent comparative test results. Hohem’s MT3 Pro page uses broad “first” and “only” language with launch-date footnotes; treat those as Hohem’s dated claims, not as independently verified market-wide facts.

What tracking differences mean in practice
On-device versus app-based tracking
The M7 page says its AI tracker can recognize people and objects and operate without the phone app. That may suit creators who want tracking while using the phone’s native camera, as Hohem describes it. The X3/X3 SE catalog entry instead identifies Hohem Joy app-based tracking. Check the current feature list and app requirements for the exact model and phone before choosing.
Standard MT3 versus MT3 Pro
Hohem describes the standard MT3’s onboard AI camera as focused on human tracking. The MT3 Pro page claims tracking for humans, pets, vehicles and other subjects. These are distinct product claims; do not transfer Pro tracking scope to the standard MT3.

Remote framing and monitoring
The M7 has a detachable touchscreen preview remote, while the MT3 Pro page describes a detachable remote with live feed. These control and monitoring options can help when the operator is away from the camera, but their presence does not make every remote or workflow identical. Confirm the control features of the specific model and kit.
Choosing a Hohem gimbal for your gear
- Start with the device and full payload. For a phone, check the compatible phone dimensions and total weight. For a camera gimbal, count the camera body, lens and any cage, monitor or other rig components against the model’s stated payload. Hohem lists 500 g for the M7 and 2.5 kg for the MT3 Pro; these are model-specific limits, not a guarantee that every configuration within the number will balance or operate correctly.
- Match tracking to the subject. Decide whether human tracking is enough or whether you need the broader subject types Hohem claims for the MT3 Pro. If app-free operation matters, compare that requirement with the particular model’s stated tracking method.
- Choose how you want to control framing. Consider whether onboard controls or gestures are sufficient, or whether a detachable remote and live preview are important to your shooting position.
- Check movement and orientation needs. Compare the model’s movement range and how it handles your intended framing. If you need vertical shooting, verify the model’s procedure and whether switching orientation requires rebalancing; do not assume it is the same across the range.
- Account for portability and kit contents. Foldable phone models prioritize a different setup than camera-oriented gimbals. Check whether an extension, tripod, light, remote or other accessory comes with the exact package. For the MT3 Pro, Hohem notes that some accessories are Pro Kit exclusives and that camera rigs and accessories are not necessarily included.
- Use runtime figures only with their test conditions. The M7 and MT3 Pro runtime claims use different conditions, so they are not a direct head-to-head comparison. For either model, real recording time depends on tracking, lighting, movement, payload and other use conditions.
How to read Hohem’s battery-life claims

The MT3 Pro’s “up to 20 hours” figure is not a tracking-use or dynamic-filming estimate: tracking is disabled and the gimbal is stationary in the stated test. The M7’s listed runtimes also vary substantially with tracking and fill-light use. Neither page’s laboratory figures should be treated as a guaranteed field runtime.

What the specifications do—and do not—establish
Hohem’s pages are useful for identifying stated payloads, tracking methods, control options and test conditions. They do not provide an independent head-to-head assessment of footage quality or prove that one model is superior in every scenario. Product specifications, package contents, availability and app features may change, so verify the current official page for the exact model and regional package before buying.
Hohem’s About page displays “3 Million+ Customers” but does not attach an explicit publication year to that figure; it should not be presented as a dated current statistic. The same care applies to promotional superlatives: attribute them to Hohem and preserve any stated date boundary.
