HMD launched the Vibe 2 Pro 5G in India on September 29, 2026, with Indus by Sarvam AI among its headline features. Indian launch coverage lists it at ₹15,999 for 6GB/128GB or ₹17,999 for 8GB/128GB, with limited-time launch prices of ₹14,999 and ₹16,999. The “$166” framing refers approximately to the ₹14,999 offer; it is not a verified US price or evidence that the phone is available in the United States.
What is the HMD Vibe 2 Pro?
The Vibe 2 Pro 5G is an Android smartphone launched for India. It is distinct from HMD’s separate smart feature-phone announcement, which described a voice assistant for basic device tasks. The Vibe 2 Pro’s AI positioning instead centers on Indus, an assistant interface from Sarvam AI.
Gadgets 360’s September 29, 2026 launch report lists these specifications:
- 6.78-inch FHD+ LCD with a 120Hz refresh rate
- MediaTek Dimensity 6300 processor
- 6GB or 8GB LPDDR4X RAM, with 128GB storage
- Android 16 and two years of security updates
- 64MP Sony IMX682 main rear camera, 2MP macro camera, and 13MP front camera
- 6,000mAh battery and 33W wired charging
- Silver Mist, Aqua Green, and Cosmic Purple color options
These are reported launch specifications, not the results of independent testing. Specifications alone do not establish real-world speed, battery life, or camera quality.

What does the “Indian AI assistant” mean?
The assistant named in Vibe 2 Pro launch coverage is Indus by Sarvam AI. Gadgets 360 described it as supporting more than 22 Indian languages and helping with tasks such as drafting content, answering questions, and planning. Those are launch-report descriptions of intended capabilities, not independently verified results on this phone.

That announcement describes Indus at its launch; it does not establish the phone’s exact setup, current access conditions, or how every feature works in the Vibe 2 Pro integration.

What is not established about Indus on this phone
The available launch coverage does not establish the handset-specific setup steps, whether Indus works offline, what connectivity it requires, how its privacy and data-handling terms apply on this phone, or whether it has a dedicated shortcut. No independent hands-on assessment of Indus on the Vibe 2 Pro was established either. Buyers should check the current Indus and handset terms rather than infer these details from the assistant’s language support or model description.
Do not confuse Indus with HMD’s feature-phone assistant
HMD’s March 1, 2026 announcement concerned smart feature phones and described voice commands for making calls, setting alarms, switching on a torch, and asking simple questions. That is a separate initiative. The announcement does not show that Indus on the Vibe 2 Pro can control those phone functions.

How the Indus partnership fits HMD’s plans
Before the Vibe 2 Pro launch, TechCrunch reported on May 21, 2026, that HMD’s earlier Vibe 2 5G came with the Indus app preloaded. In that interview, Ravi Kunwar, HMD’s CEO and vice president for India and APAC, said:
“With this partnership, the first thing we want to do is get the Indus app to consumers,” said Ravi Kunwar, HMD’s CEO and vice president for India and APAC, in an interview with TechCrunch. “Once they start using it, we will move to phase two to focus on driving more traction and stickiness. Right now, by preloading the app, we want to be more accessible to users,” he said.

That comment refers to the earlier Vibe 2 partnership, not specifically to the Vibe 2 Pro’s launch. It offers context for why HMD is promoting Indus, but does not confirm the Pro’s installation flow or app behavior.
What to consider before buying
The Vibe 2 Pro’s reported draw is a combination of a 120Hz display, a large-capacity battery, and an assistant positioned for Indian-language use at its India launch price. Whether Indus adds value for an individual buyer depends on the languages and tasks they need, and on the phone-specific terms and connectivity the service requires. The cited launch coverage does not provide independent performance or assistant-quality testing, so weigh the listed specifications as reported rather than as proof of real-world results.
