If Hexowatch is not alerting you to a change, first check whether the monitor is watching the kind of signal that changed. Visual appearance, visible text, a specific HTML element, source code, and keyword presence are different signals. Then verify the monitor’s target and settings, check whether site security is blocking Hexowatch’s crawler, and compare the monitor’s preview with the live page.
1. Match the monitor to the change you expect
A monitor can be running correctly and still stay silent if the change falls outside the signal it is configured to inspect. Hexowatch describes separate monitoring options for different kinds of changes; choose according to what actually changed.

2. Check the URL, target, and monitor settings
Review the monitor’s setup against the page and change you intended to track. Hexowatch’s walkthroughs describe previewing the target URL, selecting the relevant technology, element, or snippet, choosing a check frequency and notification channels, and starting the monitor.

- URL: Confirm it points to the correct page, including the intended path and any relevant query parameters.
- Target: For an element or source snippet monitor, verify that the selected element or snippet is the one containing the changing value or code.
- Frequency: Check the configured cadence. A change may not be checked immediately; do not assume a frequency or account limit without verifying your own settings.
- Notifications: Confirm the intended notification channel is selected and can reach you.
- Started status: Verify that the monitor was actually started, rather than left at setup or preview.
Hexowatch’s setup guidance is documented in its official product material and monitoring walkthroughs. If a notification is missing but the monitor preview has updated, investigate notification settings separately from detection.
3. Check whether Cloudflare or another security rule blocks access
If the site is protected by Cloudflare, its rules may prevent Hexowatch’s crawler from reaching the page. Hexowatch’s Cloudflare tutorial says a user-agent allow rule may be needed depending on the site’s Cloudflare settings. The tutorial gives an example rule matching a user agent containing “Hexowatch” or an example full user-agent value, then allowing it.

The tutorial was published on December 28, 2022, so its exact Cloudflare menu path may have changed. Before editing a firewall or WAF rule, check the current Hexowatch Cloudflare tutorial and Cloudflare’s current documentation. Limit any exception to the crawler and scope you intend to allow; do not broadly weaken site protections.
A blocked crawler may fail to access the page and can lead to false incident alerts as well as missed changes. If your site uses another CDN, WAF, bot-management layer, or access restriction, check its logs and rules for denied requests from the monitoring crawler.

4. Compare the monitor preview with the live page
A page may look different to the monitor than it does in your own browser. Hexowatch’s FAQ specifically raises questions about pages using React, Angular, or Vue and about pages that do not display correctly during monitoring. The available FAQ text does not establish a universal compatibility guarantee or prescribe a particular rendering fix.
- Open the live page and note the exact element or visible change you expect Hexowatch to detect.
- Open the monitor’s captured preview or snapshot, if available.
- Compare the relevant content and appearance. If the snapshot is missing or misrendering the target, treat this as an access or rendering issue rather than simply changing notification settings.
- If the preview appears correct but the alert did not arrive, return to the monitor’s cadence, selected signal, and notification configuration.
If the monitor’s rendering is wrong, contact Hexowatch support rather than assuming a framework-specific workaround is officially supported.
