There is no universally best hero in Heroes of History: the right pick depends on the battle mode and what your team needs. For current mode-by-mode grades, check the game’s official Meta Report. For a dated reference, Pocket Gamer’s tier list ranks heroes by role for version 1.52.7, in a guide updated September 2, 2026.

How to use this Heroes of History tier list

InnoGames Customer Support says, “There’s no single best hero.” Its in-game Meta Report rates heroes from S to F separately for each battle mode. The ratings are based on real usage data and updated regularly; a newly released hero without usage data receives an initial rating from the developers. You can open a hero’s report from that hero’s profile or view the full ranking for a battle mode. InnoGames explains how the Meta Report works.

The table below is a snapshot, not a live ranking: it reproduces Pocket Gamer’s version 1.52.7 list, updated September 2, 2026. The guide groups heroes by role and ranks them from S to C. Its grades are the author’s assessment, not official Meta Report ratings. Pocket Gamer notes that A- and B-tier heroes may still fit a player’s roster, while advising caution about investing heavily in its C-tier group. Check the in-game report for current mode-specific grades before making a decision.

What selected S-tier heroes bring

The following descriptions summarize Pocket Gamer’s guide; they are not official ratings or independent gameplay test results.

Vlad Dracula — Infantry

Pocket Gamer describes his Vampiric Essence as summoning bats that bleed enemies and return some damage as health. The guide presents him as a damage dealer with additional units on the battlefield.

Ragnar Lodbrok — Heavy Infantry

The guide describes a tank-oriented kit that can teleport to distant enemies, taunt them, and gain a shield. It also points to synergy with Lagertha.

Lagertha — Infantry

Pocket Gamer says Thunderstrike buffs Lagertha and makes her attack the strongest enemy. The guide highlights attack and critical-damage gains at higher awakening.

Robin Hood — Ranged

The guide describes Robin Hood as a single-target attacker who focuses on the furthest enemy, making him potentially useful against bosses. It recommends pairing him with defense reduction and a front-line tank.

Albert Einstein — Siege

Pocket Gamer says his ability creates a moving black hole that damages enemies and reduces their attack speed. The guide notes that later awakening improves his attack and skill frequency.

How to choose a hero for your roster

  • Start with the battle mode. Use that mode’s Meta Report grade rather than treating a hero’s tier as universal.
  • Check what your team lacks. Role and synergy matter alongside rank; a lower-ranked hero may suit your existing roster better.
  • Factor in investment. Pocket Gamer’s assessments include upgrade and awakening considerations. Its list does not establish a universal upgrade path or a complete synergy matrix.
  • Account for availability. Heroes are obtained mainly through the Time Portal, whose offerings and promotions can rotate.

How hero summoning and duplicates work

InnoGames Support says heroes are obtained mainly through the Time Portal. The regular and Legendary portals differ, and other portals may appear with seasons, events, or rotations. Promotions can raise the chance of a specific hero or double the chance of a 5-star hero. Check the portal screen for its drop-rate details. InnoGames explains the Time Portal and hero acquisition.

Duplicate summons become Hero Essence, which is used for Awakening. A duplicate of a fully awakened hero becomes Chrono Crystals, according to the same support guide.

What kind of game is Heroes of History?

InnoGames describes Heroes of History as a free-to-play city-building and hero-collection game for Android, iOS, and browser. Its current game page says players can recruit and upgrade over 70 historic and mythological heroes, then use them in real-time battles, PvE time-travel campaigns, competitive PvP, and alliances. Optional in-game purchases are available. See InnoGames’ official game description.
