HeroDevs announced a $125 million strategic growth investment from PSG on July 24, 2025, with existing investor Album also participating. The company says the funding will help secure legacy applications and protect enterprise infrastructure; it also announced a separate $20 million fund for open-source creators and projects.
What the $125 million investment is for
HeroDevs framed the investment as support for securing legacy software applications and keeping enterprise technology infrastructure protected and compliant. SecurityWeek reported that the round brought HeroDevs’ total raised to $133 million; that is independent reporting, not a total stated in the company’s announcement.
The funding amount does not disclose PSG’s ownership percentage or the company’s valuation, revenue, profitability, or customer count. It should be understood as a strategic growth investment, not evidence of any particular financial performance.
How HeroDevs supports end-of-life open-source software
Never-Ending Support
HeroDevs’ central commercial offering is Never-Ending Support (NES), ongoing security, stability, compatibility, and compliance support for deprecated or end-of-life open-source frameworks and packages. It is intended for organizations that still depend on software whose original maintainers have stopped providing support.

That creates a supported bridge: teams can address security and compatibility needs while planning a migration on a schedule that suits their application, staffing, and operational requirements. NES can help extend the supported life of a dependency, but it is not itself a rewrite or a guarantee that an application can avoid modernization indefinitely.
Coverage and terms depend on the specific framework or package. Before relying on NES, teams should confirm the versions covered, how security issues and CVEs are handled, compatibility commitments, support duration, compliance documentation, deployment approach, and pricing directly with HeroDevs.
Migration and modernization
Support for an end-of-life dependency and migration away from it are distinct needs. The OpenJS Foundation describes HeroDevs as providing consulting and engineering to help customers migrate from deprecated packages and modernize technology stacks. That work can complement NES: continued support can buy time, while migration services address the longer-term change.
The separate $20 million Open Source Sustainability Fund
On June 23, 2025, HeroDevs announced a $20 million Open Source Sustainability Fund intended to support open-source creators, maintainers, and projects that follow end-of-life best practices. HeroDevs said it had donated more than $4 million to creators and projects since 2021, including more than $2 million during 2024. These are company-reported donation figures, distinct from the $125 million investment.

The fund connects HeroDevs’ commercial activity to ecosystem support: maintainers and projects receive funding, while end-of-life practices are part of the stated basis for support. The available announcement does not establish detailed eligibility rules or guarantee that a particular project or maintainer qualifies; those details should be confirmed with HeroDevs.
Where partnerships fit
Mend.io vulnerability detection and remediation
HeroDevs and Mend.io announced a joint solution for vulnerability scanning and remediation of deprecated open-source packages. The pairing is meant to connect finding vulnerable packages with a route to remediation. Teams considering it should verify current package coverage, workflow integration, and commercial terms rather than assume every deprecated component is covered.
OpenJS Foundation and broader ecosystem work
HeroDevs joined the OpenJS Foundation and contributes security, compliance, consulting, and modernization support, according to the foundation’s announcement. HeroDevs’ press-release archive also lists activity involving OpenSSF, CISA’s Secure by Design pledge, Zend by Perforce for Drupal 7, ESLint, Nuxt, and other projects. An archive listing alone does not confirm that each effort remains an active partnership.

For a team responsible for unsupported open-source components, compare providers against the application’s specific risks and migration plan:
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Best Value
- Coverage: Which frameworks, packages, and exact versions are supported?
- Security response: How are vulnerabilities and CVEs triaged, patched, and communicated?
- Compatibility and duration: What compatibility is maintained, and for how long?
- Compliance evidence: What documentation is available for audits and internal controls?
- Migration help: Are engineering or modernization services available, and what do they include?
- Commercial and technical fit: How is pricing determined, and how is support delivered or deployed?
- Ecosystem contribution: Does the provider support upstream creators or projects, and under what criteria?
NES may suit teams that need a maintained interim path for a dependency they cannot replace immediately. For a dependency that can be upgraded or replaced, compare the cost and risk of continued support with the effort of migration. In either case, identify the exact component and version first; a general claim of support for deprecated OSS is not enough to establish coverage for a production system.
