There isn’t one FPS number for every PC. Rockstar says the PC version can run at 60 frames per second, but that is a supported capability—not a guarantee for every computer, resolution, graphics setting, or edition. Your result depends on your CPU, GPU, RAM, whether you play GTAV Enhanced or GTAV Legacy, and your settings.
What FPS can GTA 5 run at on PC?
Rockstar’s April 14, 2015 PC launch announcement said players could experience the game at 60 frames per second, with resolutions up to 4K and beyond. That describes what the PC release can support; it is not a benchmark for a particular graphics card or a promise of 60 FPS at every resolution and graphics setting. Rockstar’s PC launch announcement

Rockstar does not publish a universal FPS chart for arbitrary PC configurations. Without your hardware, edition, resolution, and graphics settings, a precise personal estimate would be guesswork.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesEnhanced and Legacy have different PC requirements
Rockstar lists separate requirements for GTAV Enhanced and GTAV Legacy. The official requirements page was last updated December 10, 2025; it also notes that downloadable content and programming changes can alter requirements over time. These specifications help you check compatibility and broad hardware tiers, but they do not predict a frame rate. Rockstar’s PC system requirements

Do not transfer expectations from one edition to the other: the listed hardware requirements differ substantially. Rockstar’s store says the PC purchase includes both Enhanced and Legacy, with Legacy available for PCs below Enhanced’s minimum requirements; check the current store listing for details. How to estimate FPS for your own PC
To get a useful estimate, identify the exact edition and configuration rather than relying on the game’s name alone. The key details are:
Rank #2
- GRAND THEFT AUTO V When a young street hustler, a retired bank robber and a terrifying psychopath land themselves in trouble, they must pull off a series of dangerous heists to survive in a city in which they can trust nobody, least of all each other.
- GRAND THEFT AUTO ONLINE Discover an ever-evolving world of choices and ways to play as you climb the criminal ranks of Los Santos and Blaine County in the ultimate shared Online experience.
- THE CRIMINAL ENTERPRISE STARTER PACK The Criminal Enterprise Starter Pack is the fastest way for new GTA Online players to jumpstart their criminal empires with the most exciting and popular content plus $1,000,000 bonus cash to spend in GTA Online - all content valued at over GTA$10,000,000 if purchased separately.
- This game will no longer support Windows 7 or 8 operating systems starting January 30, 2024.
- Edition: GTAV Enhanced or GTAV Legacy.
- CPU and GPU: Include the exact model; for the GPU, note its video memory if known.
- RAM: State the installed amount, and whether it is dual-channel if known.
- Resolution and settings: For example, 1080p or 1440p, plus the graphics preset or individual settings.
Compare those details with the requirements for your edition, but treat the comparison as a compatibility and capability check—not an FPS prediction. Rockstar lists an RTX 3060 with 8 GB or RX 6600 XT with 8 GB as Enhanced recommended graphics cards; the page does not say either card will deliver a particular frame rate. An actual number requires a benchmark for the same edition, hardware, resolution, and settings.

The sources here do not establish a current universal maximum frame rate for every PC setup. Rockstar’s Title Update 1.70 notes record a specific Enhanced issue where a 120 Hz cap could apply incorrectly when Frame Limit was set to Off; Rockstar marked that issue fixed on March 5, 2025. The notes also record a fix for an Enhanced Story Mode mission that could halt at extremely high frame rates, and a March 13, 2025 fix for framerate drops underwater. Those are dated fixes, not a current specification that all systems are capped at 120 FPS—or proof that every high frame rate works without issue. Rockstar’s GTAV Title Update 1.70 notes

- Welcome to Los Santos - When a young street hustler, a retired bank robber, and a terrifying psychopath find themselves entangled with some of the most frightening and deranged elements of the criminal underworld, the U.S. government, and the entertainment industry, they must pull off a series of dangerous heists to survive in a ruthless city in which they can trust nobody — least of all each other. - Stunning Visuals - Enhanced levels of fidelity and performance with new graphics modes including ray tracing features such as ambient occlusion and global illumination, ray traced shadows and reflections, support for AMD FSR and NVIDIA DLSS, and more.*
- Faster Loading - Quicker access to the action as the world of Los Santos and Blaine County load in faster than ever before by using SSD and DirectStorage on supported devices.
- Immersive Controls - Feel new levels of responsiveness with dynamic resistance via the Adaptive Triggers on the DualSense wireless controller, from directional damage to weather effects, rough road surfaces to explosions, and much more.*
What a high-refresh-rate monitor changes
A monitor with a higher refresh rate can display more updates per second when the PC supplies enough frames. It does not make the game render more FPS on its own; the computer’s performance remains the limiting factor.
