Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteTo take a website screenshot with GrabzIt in PHP, create a GrabzItClient with your application key and secret, call URLToImage(), then save the result with either SaveTo() for a local file or Save() for a callback handler. Use HTMLToImage() for an HTML string or FileToImage() for a local file. GrabzIt’s PHP library documents this capture-and-save flow in its PHP overview.
Capture a website screenshot and save it locally
For a local development setup, SaveTo() is the straightforward option: the PHP application waits for the capture and writes the result to the path you supply. The GrabzIt overview specifically recommends it for localhost use.
<?php
include 'GrabzItClient.php';
$grabzIt = new \GrabzIt\GrabzItClient('APPLICATION KEY', 'APPLICATION SECRET');
$grabzIt->URLToImage('https://example.com');
$grabzIt->SaveTo(__DIR__ . '/result.jpg');
Replace the key and secret with your account credentials, and ensure the PHP process can write to the destination directory. Do not put real credentials in published source code. Check the library installation and file layout for the version you use in GrabzIt’s PHP documentation; the available material does not establish a current PHP compatibility range or package release.
Choose the right input method
GrabzIt documents three image-capture inputs. Each one still needs a save step after the capture request.

- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
| Input | Method | Use it for |
|---|---|---|
| Web page URL | URLToImage($url) |
A page available at a URL, such as https://example.com. |
| HTML string | HTMLToImage($html) |
Markup assembled by your application. |
| Local file | FileToImage($path) |
An HTML file available at a local path. |
For example, use HTMLToImage() instead of URLToImage() when your input is already HTML. The API overview also documents URL, HTML, and file methods for PDF output, along with other operations; this guide focuses on images.
Save with a callback or a local path
Use Save() when your application has a publicly accessible handler URL to receive and process the completed capture. Use SaveTo() when a callback is not available, including on localhost. These are different completion workflows, not interchangeable path formats.

Callback-based Save
$grabzIt->URLToImage('https://example.com');
$grabzIt->Save('https://your-domain.example/handler.php');
The handler URL must be reachable by GrabzIt so it can process the completion callback. Configure the handler URL when your deployment needs it; GrabzIt’s demo setup guide describes configuring credentials and, for a non-local demo, optionally setting a handler URL.
Synchronous SaveTo
$grabzIt->URLToImage('https://example.com');
$grabzIt->SaveTo(__DIR__ . '/result.jpg');
SaveTo() waits while the screenshot is created and saved to the requested file path. Choose a writable path and allow the PHP request enough execution time for the capture workflow.

Set image format, dimensions, and capture behavior
Image options let you tune the output and rendering behavior. See GrabzIt’s image-capture options and technical documentation for the exact option methods and signatures supported by the library version you installed.
- Format: JPG is documented as the default, and PNG is available. GrabzIt recommends PNG when JPG quality may be insufficient for a screenshot; that is vendor guidance, not an independent quality benchmark.
- Width and height: Set dimensions for a fixed output. A value of
-1disables cropping in that dimension. An uncropped full-page image can be large, and the documentation notes that there is no full-length browser width. - Browser dimensions: Browser width and height can affect the page layout before capture, separately from the final image dimensions.
- Delay and dynamic content: A delay and wait-for-element controls are documented. They can help with content that appears after initial loading, but cannot guarantee that every site’s dynamic rendering will finish as expected.
- Element capture: Use a CSS selector to target an element such as
#features. If more than one element matches, the first matching element is used. - Other selector controls: The technical references describe target, hide, wait-for, click, hover, and scroll behavior for more tailored captures.
Keep full-page captures and large dimensions in mind when estimating output size and processing time. The documentation does not provide a universal file-size or speed guarantee.

Troubleshoot common PHP capture problems
- Credentials are rejected: Confirm that you used the application key and secret from the intended account and passed them to
GrabzItClientin the documented order. - No output file appears: For
SaveTo(), verify that the destination directory exists and is writable by the PHP process. Use an absolute path such as__DIR__ . '/result.jpg'while diagnosing path issues. - Callback does not complete: Confirm that the URL passed to
Save()is publicly reachable and that the handler is configured to process the completion. A localhost-only URL cannot serve as a public callback; useSaveTo()locally. - Screenshot is cropped or unexpectedly sized: Review both output dimensions and browser dimensions. Use
-1for a dimension that should not be cropped, while accounting for the potentially large resulting image. - Element capture is blank or wrong: Check that the CSS selector matches the intended element in the rendered page. If multiple elements match, the first is captured. Consider a wait-for-element or delay control for content that appears later.
- Image text or detail looks poor: Try PNG instead of the documented JPG default when image quality is more important than file size.
The official references cover the methods and options above, but do not establish a current PHP-version compatibility range, current package release, or universal performance figures. Verify those details against your installed library and account documentation.
