Google published its Pakistan Independence Day 2025 Doodle on August 14, marking the 78th anniversary of Pakistan’s independence. The official page identifies the illustration as the letter G with the Pakistani flag and connects the day to the Pakistan Movement.
What the 2025 Google Doodle showed
Google’s official Doodle page, dated August 14, 2025, is titled “Pakistan Independence Day 2025.” Its image caption describes “An illustration of the letter G with the Pakistani flag.” The page does not name an artist or explain the design process or the symbolism of individual visual elements, so more specific interpretations are not established by Google’s description. Why 2025 was the 78th anniversary
Pakistan became independent on August 14, 1947. The Government of Pakistan used the 78-year count for the August 14, 2025 observance: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s message, issued the day before, congratulated the nation on the “completion of 78 years of independence of Pakistan.” The President of Pakistan also described August 14, 2025, as the 78th Independence Anniversary. The history behind the date
Google’s Doodle description says Pakistan gained independence and became a sovereign nation in 1947. It links that history to the Pakistan Movement, the Indian Independence Act of 1947, and the demand among Muslim Indians for an independent nation-state, led politically by the All-India Muslim League under Muhammad Ali Jinnah. Google describes the period before independence as “almost 200 years of foreign rule”; that is the wording of its Doodle page. Google’s historical summary.
