You can set up Google Wallet on a Fitbit only if your specific Fitbit model, country, bank, and card are supported. Check all four before starting; a card that works in Google Wallet on an Android phone may not work on Fitbit.
Does your Fitbit support Google Wallet?
Google lists these Fitbit devices for Google Wallet: Versa Special Edition, Versa 2, Versa 3, Versa 4, Sense, Sense 2, Charge 3 Special Edition, Charge 4, Charge 5, Charge 6, and Fitbit Ace LTE. Check Google Wallet Help’s Fitbit device and setup guidance for the current list before you begin.
Country and payment-card eligibility are separate checks. Consult Google’s supported payment methods for the United Kingdom, or find the page for your country and check the exact bank and card. Google’s country-specific lists differ, and a bank may take a few days to activate support.

How to set up Google Wallet on your Fitbit
Keep your Fitbit near your phone and make sure the Fitbit app is installed. Google requires a four-digit device PIN to use Wallet.

- Open the Fitbit app on your phone and tap Today, then Devices, then your Fitbit.
- Sign in to a Google Account when prompted.
- Set a four-digit PIN for the Fitbit. You need this screen lock to pay with the device.
- In the Fitbit app, open Google Wallet and choose New credit or debit card. You can also select a card already saved in Google Wallet.
- Scan the card or enter its details manually, then enter the card’s three-digit security code.
- Choose the verification method offered by the card issuer and enter the verification code to finish adding the card.
To add another payment card later, open Google Wallet in the Fitbit app, choose Add to Watch, then add and verify the card. Google says discount, loyalty, and rewards cards cannot currently be added to Google Wallet on Fitbit.
How to pay with your Fitbit
At a contactless terminal where Google Pay is accepted, open Google Wallet on your Fitbit and hold the device near the reader. Wait for a sound or vibration to confirm the payment. The first card you add is the default. To use a different card, swipe to it before presenting your Fitbit to the terminal.

Why can’t you add your card?
- Check Fitbit-specific support. Phone and Fitbit support are not identical: a card that works on an Android phone may not be supported on Fitbit. Confirm your country, bank, and exact card in Google’s Fitbit payment methods list.
- Check for issuer or details problems. The card issuer can decline a tap-to-pay setup request. Incorrect cardholder name, security code, or billing address can also prevent setup. Google’s Google Wallet card setup help explains general card troubleshooting. A physical card’s contactless feature alone does not establish that it is supported in Google Wallet on Fitbit.
- For a network error, reconnect the Fitbit and phone. Keep them near each other, turn on Bluetooth on both devices, and make sure the phone has internet access over cellular or Wi-Fi.
- If you removed the Fitbit screen lock, set it up again. Google says removing the lock deletes payment cards stored on that Fitbit. Add a screen lock, then add and verify the card again.
What if you change phones or lose your Fitbit?
When switching phones, install the Fitbit app on the new phone and open Google Wallet from it. Google’s Fitbit-specific help says previously added Fitbit cards should appear there.
If your Fitbit is lost or stolen, remove its cards through the Fitbit app on your phone. The four-digit PIN is required to pay from the device.

Fitbit Pay transition history
Google’s support page says existing Fitbit Pay cards could be used only until July 29, 2024. It also says Fitbit Pay cards and information do not transfer automatically to Google Wallet, and that moving to Google Wallet prevents a return to Fitbit Pay. That date has passed; this is transition history, not a current deadline or an indication that Fitbit Pay remains available.
