Pixel Connected Camera now works with 11 more communication and work apps, including Google Meet, Zoom, Microsoft Teams and Slack. Android Authority reported on October 8, 2026 that the expansion arrives through a Pixel Camera Services update, raising the number of supported apps from five to 16. Whether your phone gets it depends on the app you use, the Pixel model you own, and what second camera you plan to connect.
What changed
Connected Cameras lets you capture or stream from a Pixel through a supported camera app while using an external camera as the video source. Until now, Google’s help documentation listed five apps: Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, Snapchat and TikTok. Android Authority reports that Pixel Camera Services version 4.1.977867365.00 is rolling out through the Play Store and adds 11 apps to that list.
The change is software. It does not add a new camera sensor to any Pixel, and it does not require a separate video app. Android Authority says the new compatibility should appear automatically in supported apps on eligible hardware once the update reaches the device, and it gives no country-by-country timetable.

1. Which app do you need?
Start with the call or streaming app you already use. If it is on the Google Pixel Help list or the Android Authority list, it is a candidate. If it is not on either list, Connected Cameras will not appear in it, regardless of your hardware.
2. Which Pixel do you have?
A Pixel 6, 7, 8 or 9 can use another Pixel as the second camera. A Pixel 10, a Pixel A-Series phone, or a Pixel Tablet cannot. Those devices need a GoPro or a USB camera.

3. Do you already own a compatible second camera?
If you already have a second Pixel or a USB camera that your phone supports, you do not need to buy anything. The GoPro is a category Google supports, not a specific model requirement. Google’s documentation does not name a particular GoPro model or USB camera brand, so check the model against your phone before purchase.
