Trendzeist is a local Model Context Protocol (MCP) server that its creator, Paulo Henrique, built to let an AI assistant use Google Trends data for content research. It organizes the work into topic discovery, question mining, and keyword comparison, and can be combined with Google Search Console and Google Analytics. It does not turn Trends interest into search-volume estimates or show whether AI systems cite your site.

What Trendzeist is designed to do

Henrique describes Trendzeist as a free, open-source tool for a local AI-assisted content workflow. It began as an MCP layer over pytrends-modern. According to his article, the project adds request throttling, persistent disk caching, strict input validation, JSON output designed for language models, and a ranked discover_topics workflow. These are the creator’s descriptions, not independently verified performance findings.

The MCP layer gives a compatible assistant structured operations to call rather than asking it to interpret a raw Trends interface on its own. Henrique’s examples cover finding candidate subjects from seed terms, collecting literal search questions, comparing keywords, and bringing Trends observations together with a site’s Search Console and Analytics data.

How the content-research workflow fits together

1. Discover candidate topics

A prompt such as “Give me blog post ideas about home espresso for US readers” can direct an assistant to use discover_topics to find candidate subjects from seed topics. The geographic scope matters: the example is for US readers, and the result should be treated as a research starting point, not a forecast of traffic.

Elebase USB to USB C Adapter for iPhone 18 Pro Max,USBC Car Charger Adapter
  • Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
  • Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
  • Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
  • Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.

2. Find the questions people phrase literally

The assistant can use mine_questions to surface question wording associated with a subject. Those phrases can help shape an article’s angle or identify subtopics worth investigating. They are not, by themselves, evidence of how many people ask a question or whether a particular page will rank.

3. Compare terms before choosing an angle

compare_keywords can help an assistant describe relative Trends patterns among candidate terms. In Henrique’s espresso example, the tools work together to produce possible topics, question phrasing, and trend descriptions. The article does not establish a measured accuracy rate or guarantee that the suggestions outperform manual research.

4. Add the site’s own performance context

Henrique also describes combining Trends observations with Search Console data to look for pages ranking around positions 8 to 20 whose subjects may be gaining interest. Analytics can add visitor-engagement context. These data sources answer different questions: Trends indicates relative interest, Search Console describes a site’s search performance, and Analytics provides engagement data. Combining them may help prioritize investigation, but it does not prove a topic is rising for every audience or that revising a page will improve its ranking.

What the data can—and cannot—tell you

  • Trends is relative, not a volume report. Henrique cautions that Google Trends provides a relative-interest index, not search-volume figures. You still need a separate volume source to estimate search demand or potential clicks.
  • Topic opportunity is not AI citation tracking. Henrique says Trendzeist “does not measure whether ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, or other AI systems are currently citing your site.” Finding relevant subjects and questions is a research workflow, not evidence that an AI service will cite a page.
  • Undocumented endpoints create a maintenance risk. Henrique writes, “Trendzeist relies on Google Trends endpoints that aren’t part of a documented public API.” Because those endpoints may change without notice, compatibility over time is uncertain.
  • Examples are not independent tests. The described workflows illustrate the project’s intended use. They should not be read as verified benchmarks, traffic outcomes, or proof of improved search or AI visibility.

Installation options and configuration

Henrique’s article lists these ways to run the project: uvx trendzeist-mcp, pipx run trendzeist-mcp, pip install trendzeist-mcp, or Docker using ghcr.io/phalkmin/trendzeist-mcp. The article describes it as local, free, MIT-licensed, and requiring no API key or account. Package availability and current setup were not independently verified here, so check the project’s current documentation before relying on a command or configuration.

Who may find this approach useful

Trendzeist is aimed at people who want an AI assistant to help structure Google Trends research in a local workflow, especially when they also have site data in Search Console and Analytics. Its stated free, open-source, no-account approach may appeal to users who prefer those characteristics to a hosted or paid workflow. This is a description of the project’s positioning, not a comparison benchmark against other tools.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

It is a weaker fit if the central requirement is exact search-volume estimates, confirmed traffic forecasts, direct measurement of AI citations, or a stable officially documented Google Trends API. In those cases, Trendzeist’s described outputs do not answer the main question on their own.
