The TECNO POVA 8 Pro 5G has the larger display and higher stated refresh rate; the Google Pixel 10a is smaller, supports Qi wireless charging, and comes with Google’s stated seven-year OS, security, and Pixel Drops update commitment. The right choice depends on your priorities and local price: the available price examples are from different markets and cannot be compared directly.
At a glance: the main differences
| Feature | Google Pixel 10a | TECNO POVA 8 Pro 5G |
|---|---|---|
| Display | 6.3-inch pOLED, 1080 × 2424, 60–120Hz | 6.78-inch AMOLED, 2644 × 1208, up to 144Hz |
| Processor | Google Tensor G4 | MediaTek Dimensity 7400 Ultimate 5G |
| Rear cameras | 48MP main and 13MP ultrawide | 50MP main with OIS and 8MP ultrawide |
| Battery | Typical capacity 5,100mAh | Capacity not confirmed in the cited Mexico specifications |
| Software | Google promises seven years of OS, security, and Pixel Drops updates | Mexico specifications list HiOS 16 based on Android 16 |
| Dimensions and weight | 153.9 × 73.0 × 9.0mm; 183g | 162.48 × 77.27 × 7.39mm; 189g |
These are published specifications, not results from side-by-side testing. A higher refresh rate or a larger megapixel count alone does not establish which screen or camera takes better-looking photos. The cited TECNO specifications come from its Mexico page, so confirm the configuration sold in your country.
Which phone has the better display?
Choose the POVA 8 Pro for a bigger, faster-refreshing screen
TECNO lists a 6.78-inch AMOLED panel with a maximum refresh rate of 144Hz. Its larger screen may suit video, games, and other content where more display area is useful. The published specification establishes the maximum refresh rate, not that every app or game will run at 144Hz.
Choose the Pixel 10a for a smaller phone
Google lists a 6.3-inch pOLED display with a 60–120Hz refresh range. The Pixel is shorter and narrower than the POVA, which may make it easier to handle if you prefer a less wide handset. Display size and refresh rate do not by themselves settle overall panel quality.
#1 Best Overall
- Google Pixel 10a is a durable, everyday phone with more[1]; snap brilliant photography on a simple, powerful camera, get 30+ hours out of a full charge[2], and do more with helpful AI like Gemini[3]
- Unlocked Android phone gives you the flexibility to change carriers and choose your own data plan; it works with Google Fi, Verizon, T-Mobile, AT&T, and other major carriers
- Pixel 10a is sleek and durable, with a super smooth finish, scratch-resistant Corning Gorilla Glass 7i display, and IP68 water and dust protection[4]
- The Actua display with 3,000-nit peak brightness shows up clear as day, even in direct sunlight[5]
- Plan, create, and get more done with help from Gemini, your built-in AI assistant[3]; have it screen spam calls while you focus[6]; chat with Gemini to brainstorm your meal plan[7], or bring your ideas to life with Nano Banana[8]
How do their cameras compare?
The listed rear-camera hardware differs in two notable ways: Pixel 10a has a 13MP ultrawide, while TECNO lists an 8MP ultrawide; the POVA’s 50MP main camera is specified with optical image stabilization (OIS). Those figures do not prove which phone produces better photos or video. No direct camera comparison is established here, so consider independent sample images and reviews for the exact regional models before deciding on camera quality.
What about performance, battery, and charging?
Performance
Pixel 10a uses Google Tensor G4; the POVA 8 Pro 5G uses MediaTek Dimensity 7400 Ultimate 5G. There is no comparable benchmark result here to show which is faster, so the processor names alone are not a sound basis for a performance verdict.

Battery and charging
Google gives the Pixel a typical battery capacity of 5,100mAh and lists Qi-certified wireless charging. Google also advertises more than 30 hours of battery life and up to 120 hours with Extreme Battery Saver; those are manufacturer estimates, not independent endurance-test results. Google says the Pixel can reach about 50% charge in around 30 minutes with a 45W USB-C PPS charger or higher, sold separately.
TECNO’s global product page describes 45W charging and 10W wired reverse charging, while the retrieved Mexico specifications do not establish the POVA’s battery capacity or charging details. Confirm the local model’s capacity, charging support, and whether a charger is included before comparing charging value. Capacity and charging specifications cannot predict real-world battery life on their own.

Which phone offers longer software support?
Google states that Pixel 10a will receive seven years of OS, security, and Pixel Drops updates. That is the clearer choice if a published long-term support commitment is important to you. TECNO’s Mexico page lists HiOS 16 based on Android 16, but that software version does not establish how long the POVA will receive updates.
How much more does the Pixel 10a cost?
Prices vary by country, retailer, storage configuration, and date. The figures below are separate market snapshots, not a like-for-like global price comparison.

| Market and date | Google Pixel 10a | TECNO POVA 8 Pro 5G | What the figures show |
|---|---|---|---|
| United States | Google launch MSRP was $499 on February 18, 2026. Android Central reported prices of $599 for 128GB and $699 for 256GB on October 2, 2026. | A current US price was not established. | The later reported Pixel prices are higher than its launch MSRP; there is no established US POVA price here for calculating the difference. |
| India listing accessed October 7, 2026 | ₹52,540, shown for Amazon by the comparison listing | ₹49,999, shown for Flipkart by the comparison listing | The displayed Pixel price was ₹2,541 higher in that listing snapshot. These are volatile retailer prices relayed by a comparison site, not official list prices. |
For a useful local price difference, check both phones in the same country and on the same date, with matching storage where possible. Verify taxes, seller, availability, warranty, and whether the listed POVA configuration is the one actually offered. Do not compare a US Pixel price with a POVA price from India or Mexico.
Which phone should you choose?
- Pick the Pixel 10a if you want a smaller handset, Qi wireless charging, or Google’s explicitly stated seven-year update commitment.
- Consider the POVA 8 Pro 5G if you prioritize a larger display and a higher published maximum refresh rate, or if its local price is more attractive.
- Compare local listings before buying if price is decisive; published prices here do not provide a same-market US comparison.
- Check regional details for network bands, storage, warranty, charger-in-box status, and supported services. The POVA hardware specifications cited here are from TECNO Mexico, while the Pixel price figures are US-specific or from an India listing.
Neither phone can be declared the universal winner from these specifications alone. The most defensible choice is based on the trade-off you value: larger and faster-refreshing display versus a smaller design, wireless charging, and a clearly stated long software-support window.
