Google Chrome 138.0.7204.97 was a Windows build in Google’s June 30, 2025 desktop stable update. It is a historical release, not a current supported download: Google says older Windows MSI versions are unavailable and unsupported. If you need Chrome on an offline computer, Google documents how to transfer and install an installer, but does not provide an official archive for this specific old build.
What Chrome 138.0.7204.97 refers to
The version number is platform-specific. Google’s June 30, 2025 desktop update listed Windows builds 138.0.7204.96 and 138.0.7204.97, Mac builds 138.0.7204.92 and 138.0.7204.93, and Linux build 138.0.7204.92. The exact .97 suffix therefore identifies a Windows build, not a version shared by every desktop operating system. Google Chrome Releases: June 30, 2025
Chrome 138 stable was promoted on June 24, 2025. Google’s subsequent June 30 desktop update included one security fix, High severity CVE-2025-6554, a type confusion issue in V8. Can you download the official 138.0.7204.97 installer now?
Google’s support documentation says old Chrome Windows MSI versions are unavailable and unsupported, and advises using the latest Chrome version. Its instructions for installing Chrome offline explain how to get an installer for another computer and transfer it; they do not establish an official archive for version 138.0.7204.97. For a supported installation, use Google’s current Chrome download rather than seeking out an old executable from an unofficial archive. Installing an obsolete browser can leave you without later security fixes; the June 2025 notice itself documents an exploited vulnerability in the 138 release period.
Install Chrome offline for personal use
Google’s consumer guidance is for installing Chrome on a computer that cannot access the internet. The downloaded installer is for the target operating system; it is not a way to select a specific historical version.

- On a computer with internet access, open Google’s Chrome download and installation guidance.
- Choose the target computer’s operating system and download the installer. Check the platform and architecture before you transfer it.
- Copy the installer to removable media or another transfer method, then move it to the offline computer.
- Run the installer on the target computer and follow the on-screen prompts.
Google documents this transfer-and-install method, but its instructions do not promise that the downloaded installer will be version 138.0.7204.97 or provide an archive of that build.

Deploy Chrome MSI in a managed Windows environment
Google’s Enterprise bundle is intended for administrators who need installation and management files. Google describes the enterprise browser as the same Chrome browser used by consumers, with additional deployment and management options. Chrome Enterprise & Education FAQ

- Test the intended policy configuration on target machines before deploying it broadly.
- For a silent MSI deployment, use Google’s documented command:
msiexec /q /l GoogleChrome.msi. Run it in the deployment context appropriate for your organization. Deploy and test Chrome for Windows - Validate the installation and inspect applied policies at
chrome://policy.
Google warns that an older version’s MSI cannot be installed over a newer Chrome version. Do not treat the Enterprise MSI as a supported route to roll back to 138.0.7204.97. Deploy and test Chrome for Windows

Google’s release table, updated September 23, 2026, lists Chrome milestone 152 and includes 138 among previous milestones. That confirms Chrome 138 is historical, while Google’s support guidance limits support to current stable, extended stable, beta, and dev channels.
