If you’re looking for an edit-by-edit history that lets you roll a Google Calendar event back, Google’s published help does not document a general version-history or rollback feature. If an event disappeared because it was deleted, check the Trash for the calendar it belonged to: events remain there for 30 days and can be restored while they are listed. Workspace administrators have a separate audit-log route to investigate actions, but those logs are not documented as a way to recover an event’s earlier contents.
First, identify what “version history” means
There are two different problems that can look alike:
- An event was deleted or disappeared: Check that calendar’s Trash. Google documents restoring deleted events from there.
- An event still exists but its details were changed: Google’s user-facing Calendar help does not describe an event-by-event history or a general rollback control. A Workspace administrator may be able to investigate logged actions, but that is not the same as restoring an earlier event version.
Restore a deleted event from Calendar Trash
Use Google Calendar on a computer. Trash is separate for each calendar, and you need edit access to a calendar to see its Trash. Google says deleted events remain there for 30 days.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems- Open Google Calendar on a computer.
- Open Settings.
- Choose Trash for the calendar where the event was scheduled.
- Find the event and select Restore.
If the event is not listed, check the Trash for other calendars it might have belonged to. It may also be missing because you lack edit access, another editor restored or permanently deleted it, or the 30-day retention period has passed. Google’s instructions do not promise recovery after an event is no longer in Trash.

Recurring-event exception
If a recurring event was deleted using This and following events, Google says the removed events are permanently deleted and do not go to Trash. The Trash restore steps therefore do not apply to those instances.
Guests after restoration
If the event creator restores a deleted event, guests may need to RSVP again.

Ask a Workspace administrator to investigate a change
For a managed Google Workspace account, an administrator with the required edition and permissions can review Calendar actions in the Admin console at Reporting > Audit and investigation > Calendar log events. The logs can record actions involving calendars, events, and subscriptions, which may help explain an unexpected change or disappearance. Availability depends on the organization’s Workspace edition, administrator privileges, and data source.
These logs are evidence for investigation, not a documented event-content backup or rollback tool. Google’s administrator documentation includes event action types such as restore_event, but does not establish that every previous event description, time, or other field is retained or can be restored.
Allow for log delay
Google says Calendar log entries usually appear within one half-hour of a user action. Its broader guidance notes delays of tens of minutes and, sometimes, up to a couple of hours, so a recent action may not appear immediately.
Information to gather
If you need Google Workspace support to investigate missing events, its guidance says it can find Calendar entry deletions only when they happened within the last 30 days. Prepare the affected calendar’s ID, whether it is primary or secondary, and the reason the events are missing if known. For an event investigation, also gather the relevant event IDs and an audit log report if one is available.
